samkydd
Hi all, I've admired the Lancia Delta since its launch which seems like yonks ago. The first review I read was in CAR magazine in 2008 by Gavin Green, and I was impressed with the look and luxury of what is a unique car in a world full of Golfs, Seats, Astras and Focii (is that the correct Latin plural for Focus?). Having driven five 9-5 SAAB estates and a saloon over many years, I was toying with the idea of going back to a comfortable hatchback as I miss the compact size, parkability and frugal running costs. The last one I had was 20 years ago, my one and only brand new car which was a Citroen ZX. This was about as basic as you could get but it was a great drive. Hopefully the Delta should prove to be not only a rewarding drive but with the added bonus of comfort and modern toys. I've seen a low mileage 1.6 SR diesel model at a very reasonable price so I may jump in and go for this because the classifieds seem to show just a handful of Deltas on the market each week. My only concern is that I would prefer a 2.0 diesel, which are common in mainland Europe but they seem to be in very short supply in the UK. Did Chrysler offer many 2.0 diesel versions? Finally, I've never been a badge snob but I am tempted to Lanciafy a Delta if I do buy one. This is pure vanity because a school teacher at my primary school sold me on Lancias with his small collection of 1940s Aprilias in various states of restoration and road worthiness. I'd like to think that he's giving me the thumbs-up from on high when I eventually get my car. Any ideas on the cost for the grille, steering wheel centre and rear badge? More importantly, how easy is it to change the rear badge and steering wheel centre (will the air-bag go off)? Can you buy them in the UK or do I need to get an Italian friend to call into a dealer in Milan?
