Grand Voyager

Question

Hi,

I have a grand voyager 3.3 2001 model.

Having lots of problems with it and even baffling the garages:-( it is gas converted but the problem is in petrol also.

It is automatic, it idles perfect and drives in reverse perfect. But if you select drive it splutters and does not want to go. The more you put your foot on the throttle it's worse, the Rev counter goes up and down on its own radomly but no acceleration. Have codes pointing to throttle position and idle air valve, also pcm.

Have cleaned the idle air sensor and the drove fine for 50 miles now back to square one!

Have changed spark plugs. Any help would be greatfull:-)

My 06 3.3 gas converted vovoyager is doing a similar thing, started on the motorway when it wouldn't kickdown . best way to describe is it Feels similar to the clutch slipping, only happens when in drive and reverse, smart issue on petrol or gas. Haven't had it checked out yet, looking for some ideas first.

Been to the garage today, over fueling is causing the misfire, mechanic didn't get too involved as he thinks it maybe to do with the gas system, going to a specialist to have it checked.

I'm starting to think it might be the plugs or leads now though.

Can't understand why it doesn't do it from cold (only once it's warmed up)

Mines a bit different to that, we can't even get to about 20mph as it splutters and jerks so badly! Garages don't know what's wrong with it either:-(

Hi

I see you are in Cambs.-------are you far from Mildenhall (Suffolk)-----there is a garage that specialises in Yank motors----they do warranty work for the USAF vehicles----------at least they are familiar with Chrysler vehicles-------MUCH better than paying someone to learn about them-------they have helped me in the past

I have now changed the leads and coil, seems to have cured it.

after doing a little research I found that running on gas requires almost double the voltage to ignite the fuel air mixture. Which means the ignition parts take a real hammering due to the extra juice going through them.

Worth a try as it only cost around £100

Semmysonic, what make /brand leads and the coil you bought? I have similar issues on my new GV and I can find many different makes. Not sure which one to choose. Previous owner claims that he has changed the plugs some 10 k miles ago, I have seen receipt and some pictures, so could be the leads or coil.
