Broken Spring

I am new to this forum so please be gentle with me. I took my ypsilon 1.2 for It's first service yesterday and the dealer not only charged me a fortune for the service but said I had a broken spring. I have noticed a noise when turning over the last few weeks but how come a car with only 5000 miles on it have a broken spring, I have never had any problems with previous cars at such low mileage.What next?

Did you pay for the spring to be fixed as it is under warranty if the car is having it's first service!

The front springs were replace under warranty . I know the roads are bad but in 30 years of driving mainly new cars I have never had broken springs at such a low mileage. Yes it had it's first service £140 for an oil change.

As far as I am led to believe you are not the only person to have had premature broken front spring(s) on a ypsilon, yes the roads are bad but they are 'harsh on all cars not just ypsilons. Would be interesting to see if anyone else reports a broken spring(s)/

I had a Bravo (58 plate) that had done a mere 25k when the front off side spring broke

 

Tried to claim off county council who 'maintain roads' to no avail.
