Question

Hi all,

I've had my 61 plate Delta for two months now and have already done 7000 miles in it. It's not going to stay low mileage for long! There's not much to dislike about the car, and. I'm very happy with it in general, though I do have a couple of questions to ask other owners about sounds. One of which is too loud, and one of which is too quiet.

I was wondering if anyone else finds the click click sound of the indicators much much quieter than most cars? I'd just like to know whether it's a Chrysler / Lancia thing, or if mine has a fault.

Also, as I often leave home at 4 am, i'm sure the neighbours would love me to turn off the deafening beep when locking or unlocking the car. Has anyone managed to find a way of disabling this?

Any help / info would be gratefully received! :)

Hi Ross,

Yes my indicator beep is also very quiet too, and also in the Delta hire cars I've had in Italy including the baby Ypsilon. I'm not sure if there is a setting on examiner (FCA plug-in diagnostic's) either to increase the audible notification without someone trawling through the menu.

As for the alarm beep yes is the answer. But again you will need someone with examiner (like a dealer or specialist) or someone with Fiat ecu scan software with the cable to access the menu's.

From memory you will need your alarm code, but if you haven't got this a dealer can access the details off the FCA system using you car VIN details.  You basically deactivate the beeps by changing the country in the alarm settings to another one. There is one country that the setting only flashes the lights for arm and disarm WITHOUT any annoying beeps. I did this on my Alfa 939 Spider and 159ti Sportwagon when I had them. I just can't remember the country other than it was another one in Europe like Holland or somewhere similar I think. Someone else on Alfa Owner did say Australia, but that didn't ring true with me...

Hi Mikey,

Thanks for your answer! That's great info thanks :) I'll have a word with the service guys at my local Fiat/alfa dealer next time I book it in about changing the country setting. Hopefully they will know the right country to set it to. I'll live with the quiet indicators if it's not a fault. I've not managed to accidentally leave them on yet thankfully!

Once again, many thanks,

Ross

Hi Ross

I got quite used to a 'noisy relay switch' that was activated when using the indicators.

It is annoying to leave the indicators 'on' after they have been used for their purpose.

I have tried swopping out the relay for the bravo one - but it still is quiet.

Any older working relays lying around - they have changed suppliers according to my friend at the big C shop.

hi all new to forum, interesting reading as a Delta 1.4 SE multiair owner. Had my 62 plate now for over 3yrs and all reported faults/foibles seem true with mine.

1. very quiet  indicator click resulting in indicators remaining on after a turn (especially if you have music on).

2. engine cover replaced  under warranty

3. front electric window motors replaced under warrenty

4. Thats it, 33000 miles running  like a gem

Chrysler dealer (now JEEP) wants £600 for a service...........after I got up of the floor I decided to shop around..local Fiat dealer came close at £350 or selected items for £200 to include plugs and oil change

Then checked oil prices for this vehicle at "rip off " Halford, they want £50 for 5 litres.....even better...fully synthetic 5/40 at local auto shop..£25

I have decided to get dirty and do my own bringing back memories of 20 odd yrs back, soooo does anybody have any tips on oil / plug changes, I know its pretty basic stuff but i remember the days when you could actually work on an engine.

p.s decided to keep this car forever
