2003 Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.5 Crd Manual Ticking Noise From Gear Box

Hi there i'm new to the forum, please can anyone help I have got a Chrysler Grand Voyager 2003 2.5 CRD Manual, i'm getting like a indicator sound (TICKING) coming from the gear box would you have any idea of what that could be ??? Is there a fix for this? It gets very annoying after a while.

Any gear? Driving or stationary? Not a stone in the tyre is it, that will give a ticking?

Or a stone behind a 'vanity disc' on a wheel rim.

 

This happened to me on Harris, Scotland.

 

RAC man did have a joke about it - stating that it could have been worse, as a similar noise on a previous car proved to be the last legs of a drive shaft / CV joint disintegrating.
