Head Light Bulb Replacement

Who got child like hands and triple jointed ..  

i've had some bad designed ones  like Ulysse ,alfa 159 and 166 even the pinto evo ,, but this ..

 Delta ..

Oh my god why did I ever try and look at the headlight bulb s..

Clip wouldn't come off side ways.. wiggle the electrical connector finally came off finally got the clip undone and the bulb came out but the glass stayed in the headlight..
someone had difficulty with the clip before and bent it around so that came right off the two holes at the end and fell into the headlight managed to retrieve that. the first mirror fell down the wing got a second mirror and did exactly the same thing..
Just plain bonkers..

  ill probably have wait till i get the grill ,and take the bumper off in the spring then do the air filter and headlights out ..

and leave that flipping under tray off for ever .

It's worth a fiver just to see the pain on a Halfords fitter! I wouldn't mind so much but as I've got older I can't see inside the back of the headlight anyway! ?

You need the hands of an ambidextrous, double jointed, piano playing midwife to change the bulbs on the Delta!!!

What really works is a mirror, a good torch and patience

That said, you will find the dip bulbs blackened inside the glass and the difference that new bulbs make, will be worth all the hardship

Yes has been discussed before on here - they are a pain but what makes it so annoying is the design of the clip - they are ridiculously over-sprung and dafly not-retained well on the housing. Good luck!

The only positive I will say on this thread is how well the Delta lights perform. Really good illumination from OE and even just with Halogen bulbs.

I never really used our previous Honda's main beam lights at night as the dipped was so good, night vision at 60+ mph was a doddle on Norfolk's B roads.  Bought the Delta, scared myself silly on same said B roads at night with how bad the lights were (or maybe it's just age lol).

 

The pain of replacing the bulbs was well worth it though, went for the Ring Xenon 150 things & the difference was, well, like night & day.  Changing the offside was ok-ish, nearside not so much, in fact had to take the bloody battery out to get in the back of the light.

I think it is easier to wiggle to bumper down by undoing the (four IIRC) bolts on the slam panel and the three underneath, then access the retaining bolts for the headlight and remove the light unit. Sounds like more work but better in the long run. Just replace them all (maybe not full beam) in one go and they will not have to be done again for years, unless you fit Chinese bulbs then it will be in two weeks.

Deltamike - I honestly think the Delta's lights are really good - and that's with Halogen Dipped beam.............. you should try driving a Fiat Coupe at night!
