Purchased Grand Voyager

Just purchased a 2007 grand voyager so thought id join the forum as im bound to have questions and of course id like to contribute too, wherever i can.

 

Car looked great, Silver example 2007, 88k miles. We have a family with 4 children so the space is really welcome after coming from a ford galaxy.

 

Only bummers are the sliding doors are manual, but i suppose thats more stuff that could potentially go wrong, and also no DVD player. other than that, very pleased with choice, there doesn;t seem to be many low mileage examples around (not at my budget anyway)

I also just got my first Grand Voyager 2008 model. I'm in my 60's now but have had people carriers as my weekend hacks for the last 20 odd years. I had a Galaxy 2 litre which was great, but it always had engine issues. I then got a VR6 Galaxy which was great engine wise. But the rest of the car rattled to pieces over a few years with trim panels falling off all over. Both Galaxies were only 3 years old when purchased. Then I bought an import Toyota Emina which was fully loaded and lasted for a good few years with no problems until I sold it as my kids were getting older and didn't want to do the weekend trips to the coast / seaside anymore as they had more important stuff to deal with such as girlfriends and boyfriends etc. Then I became a Grandad for the first time 6 years ago. This is when I bought a Peugeot 807 for 500 notes. It was tired, but it also turned out to be a great people carrier. We hacked that car around the UK and Europe for 4 years before it developed way to many electrical gremlins with regards to the emissions system. So I scrapped that and got a little Zafira to tool around in on weekends with my Grand Daughter.

 

My Son recently announced that he and his partner are now expecting next Feb so I gave him the Zafira and decided that I need to buy another people carrier for the future.

I always fancied a Voyager from many years back. But they were too expensive at that time. And I have never spent more than £500 on any of my weekend cars. But at my age now, I decided to shell out a bit more on a weekend warrior. My Grand Voyager is 2008 with 110k on the clock. I paid £4k for it and I am very impressed with the car I must say. This thing has HUGE space inside. Last week I folded all the seats down into the floor and got a 3 seat sofa inside with a little space to spare so the tailgate would close. Much better than all of my old people carriers with regard to sheer volume inside. The side doors and tailgate are electric. But they open easily by hand if required. So if the electric stuff fails its no biggie.

 

If you have previously been a Galaxy owner, I think you will be very happy with the Voyager from now on?
