Lpg Yes Or No?

Question

Having had an xj8 with LPG I can confirm the benefits of it on a petrol engine but has anyone fitted or had fitted a system on the 2.8 diesel Voyager, is it worthwhile consumption wise and secondly would it get a lower tax bracket as the emissions would be reduced, any thoughts?

Hi there!

I'm sure you are probably aware the diesel / lpg never really took off due to the difficulties of making a compression ignition engine work on a fuel that need a spark to burn, so would always run a mix, the burning diesel ignites the lpg.

Also I don't think there is an official classification for that as dual fuel, to get the massive £10 reduction on road tax.

But the diesel engine can be remapped, or use a "plug and play module" for around £70 for good and immediate results. I have used them on my Renault Master 2.5 van, a Mazda6 2.0 sport - huge increase it was a totally different car, 2 Ford 1.8 Galaxys, and a Kia Sedona 2.9.

Hi, I did a little research which left me a bit confused ( not difficult these days) I just wondered if anyone had tried it on a diesel. But yes I have started looking into re mapping it’s a lot simpler than a lpg conversion and cheaper which always helps! Right I will start looking round.

I also looked into log for my diesel what with fuel prices and the ultra low emission zone but tfl say it wud be 80 % 20 % so they wud still charge if I enter the ulez so I to am going for a remap stage 1 from top gear at £250 15 to 20 % better fuel consumption and increased power even thou I don't need any more power but I have been told it will prolong the life of the turbo
