I think you have a undiagnosed problem and your gearbox is in limp mode, have you had the car on any diagnostics?

The car will only select 3rd and reverse until the fault is fixed, the code might clear itself or need clearing.

... no anomaly diagnosis ... in drive mode it works perfectly ... no lock in 3 or reverse ... moving the selector just does not even activate the display indicating the gears ... I think it is really a problem of sheared wires internal selector as from the research I found ... the selector is also a bit shaky in sequential! thanks
