0 soupstone
Below a certain temperature, when you put the blower on, an aux heater fires up and helps get the car up to temperature by heating the coolant. That light tells you it's on.

0 Dibdab
Quick question, mine is on all time (whenever the heater is on) and the heater runs on for a minute or so after the engine has been switched off.Is this a problem with the thermostat which could be fixed by the excellent in-line thermostat modification by Leedsman ? (Actually disconnected the aux heater A couple of months ago thinking it may have been why the battery was going flat… But that’s another story... With it disconnected, the light still comes on but the car takes an age to start blowing hot)
0 QinteQ
- it will be on all the time if its cold enough- it will 'run on' for a short time after its turned off to clear the fuel & fume from the 'burn bowl'- it will never switch on under 1/4 tank of fuel Cheeepo pipe lagging from screwfix will speed up the water & cabin heat time and reduce fuel consumption while increasing engine protection. I'm lucky I own a digital lathe and made a housing for my in-line stat Renault 5 Part Number TH01489 from rock auto uk. The 22K Ω buttonMOD completes your winterising self help. Best of luck.
