Delta Lancia Badging

I bought my Delta as a Fiat group enthusiast and have bought a replacement Lancia front Grill along with rear badge. The alloy centres and other badging will follow!

Replaced the rear easily enough - heat up the badge with a hair dryer then slide some string along to break up the adhesive. Roll off the excess with you thumb then remove anything left with sticky stuff remover. I just need to work out how to remove the front grill. There are 6 T30 Torx Star head screws along the top edge.

I think there is a fixing inside each front wheel arch to remove then a series of screws underneath the front edge under the car and the whole bumper should hopefully come off. Will confirm once I've done mine! The Grill itself is then held on to the bumper panel by 10 clips on the grill back that push on.

Off topic this one. The car's going well, though I saw Rosso Corsa's car at the Lancia bash and wish I had waited for that to come up! Sorry Rosso I won't get away with another one.

Anyway, the aircon is very poor so set about regassing. But where is the low pressure port? Can't find it. Is it lurking under the engine cover? Anyone know?

BTW did anyone else spot that Limited on Autotrader the other day? Gone from there now but someone got a bargain - Hate to say it Alan but it was sub £3k and only had about 70k on it! Same colour but it was also the 2.0!

Once your got it though the next MOT fixed the hole in the bumper and so on it would probably not be much cheaper than mine.

How many fully Lancia badged deltas are there now? I have 2 now. One black one an se and one white one an Sr. The only tbi g that says Chrysler on mi e now is he window glass, the dash screen when you switch on the ignition, everything else is changed. The wings emblem is still on the headrests which does not really bother me. The engine covers are original but I have had professionally made Lancia badges to cover the Chrysler word. They look really good if anyone wants them it's not expensive.

I'd like to see those cover badges Otter? Incidentally I've just come back from Devon in mine!    I like to think I'm one of the Delta S3 'specialists over here - I reckon there are around 10 cars converted - and I still claim to be the first to do it! (Although as far as I know Stuart Wilson from the Lancia Club had the first one in the country as he imported a LHD car).

Mine is now sold, not sure whether to be chuffed or to cry will hate to see it go! Anyway more importantly it's going to a Lancista so will be looked after and I've covered my repair costs I've had over and above the trade in value. It's a fabulous car for the money they really are under valued.

Not sure mate but I'd have those wheel centres off him! Missing the rear 3/4 chrome strip small Lancia Shields though - and not sure whats happened to the rear wiper.

OK so not the most elaborate solution but for a second hand £4 Thema badge and some old No More Nails..............it got rid of the 'C' word...........

I used some carbon fibre wrap and a 60mm wheel centre badge from eBay on my engine cover. Seems to be holding up so far...

He would also like to seek your advice on which model to go for. Though a late septuagenarian, he’s an occasional spirited driver on the roads around where he lives. He might make the occasional long haul trip but on the whole it’ll be for local travel.

 

Should he steer clear of any of the engine options now they’re a few years old?

I have a 1.6 Multijet SR diesel. We recently took it on an almost 1000 mile drive from West Scotland down to the West Country via the Midlands and Welsh Marches and back. Very comfortable and pretty enjoyable on the A and B roads. It also averaged just short of 60 mpg for the trip.

 

I'd aim for an SR or higher to get a decent spec car. Given the negativity around diesel these days, I would seriously consider the petrol option if I lived in or near a big city with the threat of ULEZ banning pre 2016 diesels from town centres looking like a very real possibility in the next couple of years. If you live in a rural or semi-rural area and, like me, have no intention of taking your car in to a city centre, then the diesel is still a good option.

 

The one in the ad is a base model, I'd hold out for something with a bit nicer trim, given that there probably won't be much difference in price. What I would say is, when you find a car you like the look of act fast; nice ones seem to fly off forecourts very quickly. I missed out on 4  before I found mine.

Hi Dapper and welcome to an exclusive club. (Yes I did have to google septuagenarian!) I have the 1.4 MultiAir which is an excellent engine once sorted. As per other threads the early MA engines suffered with Actuator issues - the later cars were modded (post 2014 I believe). This was not just on issue on the Delta but on Bravo/Mito/Giulietta etc). I had to replace mine along with the Turbo but it did not put me off the car. The MA unit is quite spritely given the cars weight and length. (1395kg). 140bhp is not too bad and acceleration on the motorway is quite well up to a point. The car is also very stable at speed. I can get 40+ mpg on a long run too. It still turns heads and I get many a questions about the car.

I'd agree with Tim - get at least an SR spec. There are grilles available in Italy - let us know when you find a car and we can assist with sourcing one with links etc - you just need to know where to look!
