Hose Identification

Could anyone explain this hose to me ? it's attached to the air intake pipe and it goes to the cam cover it has a probe attached and an electrical plug that is quite oily !

The vehicle is a 2.8 crd,I'm in the process of removing the turbo,egr and water pump.

Is something to do with the built up pressure under the rocker cover, I think (after a bit of google) it's called PCV, positive crankcase ventilation.

The valve that is in top of the rocker cover should be inspected and cleaned every once in a while
