0 vausey
I know what you mean Alcantaradelta there is something special about them but I can't put my finger on what it is! Which model are you on the hunt for and roughly where in the world are you? There's a few on Autotrader (a mix of 1.6 diesels and the 1.4 M-Airs) at the moment including an SR 1.6 diesel in black identical to mine but with only with 53k on the clock priced at £5k. It looks really tidy although the alloys look to be deteriorating a little (like mine have) but you should be able to get them refurbed for around £50 a wheel. Don't forget to factor in a cam belt / water pump change of around £300-400 unless there's a receipt proving it was done as by now a 2012 car should have had it replaced even though it's not hit the mileage for a change. Good luck with your hunt....
0 Alcantaradelta
Not really bothered regarding model just price I'm after, missed out on a white 61 plate with 90k 1.4 sr for £2300,but saying that maybe not do what I did last time and go for a low mileage one less problems....not many for sale people must really understand what a car they and great value for the .. 0 Rossocorsa
I think who's owned it and where it was serviced might be more significant than mileage, mine is up to 78k now can't say that it seems much different to when I bought it. Had a new air con rad and the egr cooler other than that just tyres and servicing. It's still even on the original discs and pads. I'm a bit bored with mine now but it's difficult to replace especially as I could end up with something without Italian reliability. vausey
0 vausey
I've bought high mileage diesels in the past and as long as they have been properly serviced they will run and run. The Rover 75 estate I bought at 4yrs old with 125k the clock I ran to 285k when Autoglass incorrectly fitted a new screen which resulted in a flooded ecu - otherwise it would probably still be running. Not too sure I'd go with a high miler petrol though. Did you see the Cat D blue 1.4S for £2895? Looks like an SR spec but with different wheels (s shouldn't have dual zone climate or half-leather should it??). Perhaps a typo? With the value of the cars being so low and parts quite expensive the insurance company may have chosen to settle rather than repairing what could have been very minor damage. Might be worth asking why it was Cat D as seller is at least being open and telling you, better still if there are photo's of the damage? I definitely wouldn't touch one (or any other car come to that) without it having a really good service history
0 Andrewgrale
We spent 4800 and bought from Arnold Clark in Staffordshire I exported it back here to Ireland, due to a lack of petrol engined options over here! It's a 2012 SE multiair with 48k and FSH, to replace my wife's 08 Bravo. She's delighted with it as it's so different from the run of the mill Toyolets and Hyundrys!Plenty of go and nothing but tyres and normal servicing so far. Theres a DRL on the way, but it's minor in the grand scheme of things!Good luck in your search :-D

I definitely wouldn't touch one (or any other car come to that) without it having a really good service historyI think the legend of German reliability is much exaggerated so I was being a bit tongue in cheek about Italian reliability. It's odd these days that the public have very entrenched ideas in their head about different brands that don't seem to be able to be broken, even the VW emission scandal hasn't persuaded the public that German engineering is partly smoke and mirrors. vausey
0 Alcantaradelta
I think on auto trader if they are cat d they come on autimatically,I've seen that car not fiat or Chrysler wheels and it has the sr seats and air con..actually was thinking of the bravo if one doesn't come up soon,,defo the way a car has been has been looked after if there is history to prove that somebody has spent the money open maintainance,,think my old delta never had a penny spent on it but God I really miss it

0 vausey
Rossocorsa I couldn't agree more - Before the Delta the most reliable car I ever owned was a Skoda....I'd be seriously tempted if the right Delta unlimited came on the market to upgrade from my 1.6 SR. She was a nice looker, no wonder you're missing her Alcantaradelta, think you might struggle getting the lancia bits now too... 0 MikeyRules
Hey Alcantaradelta I could be persuaded to sell mine which has most of the Lancia rebranding done. (Not done headrests or engine cover) It's a 12 plate 1.6SR with 50k on the clock. Extremely well maintained, with a recent Cambelt kit and water pump, new EGR valve and full service history with the last service done last summer. (Huge folder history file with every receipt) Would have to be worth my while though and may be above your budget if you looking at sub 3k cars? 0 Alcantaradelta
That sounds like a really really nice delta and your not to far from me as well, from what a rememember is yours dark grey..Yes your right going to have to be sub 3k and I think yours with history and mileage and lancia bits is worth a bit more than that,,Thanks for the offer though,,what can you replace them with nowadays? 0 MikeyRules
Yeah not much offers as much value for sure. I want another Alfa at some point, but not desperate to sell the Delta, as it's been a brilliant car. I've been looking at red cloverleaf GT's with the Q2 diff and just missed one locally that was at the right price.

0 MikeyRules
That sounds nice, gt are a lot of car in the right spec colour etc, stay in touch if you find one at right money and il start saving up..Yeah GT's have grown on me in recent years. I did own one once, it was a 2007 Lusso in black and although it was only a year old and absolutely mint I just didn't learn to love it.I don't think black really suits the GT as It hides a lot of the design lines, plus mine had what I call the ''cheese'' wheels which are as soft as sh.t! The leather on the earlier ones goes shiny too, and originally I hated the 147 dash in the GT as I always thought it deserved something more upmarket and classy. In the later Q2 cars the diff really makes them drive so much better and the leather was improved along with red stitching too. Just a shame they never sorted out the chocolate suspension lol... Maybe I should keep my Delta after all!!
0 Nello
Shocked Mikey! Us S3 Old-timers need to stick together - gotta have someone to moan to! Glad to see you are looking to get back in to the fold Alcantaradelta. i was suprised when I saw your old one go. The Delta is a classic in the like of so much Italian stuff - yes they are not the best to drive but family car £ per rarity there's not much to beat them.I would have had that Momo S from Italicar if i had known about it. 0 Nello
I have thought and looked in to that Alcantaradelta! The revised FCA 300C/Thema's are a bit too much for my liking still though but I do have a Lancia Grill 'watched' on Italian ebay - just in case! There was an imported LHD Thema in the UK recently for sale but they still wanted big money. Nice to hear you were 'inspired' by mine though so cheers...................Mine will be stopping for a while yet - The wife has just had a 500X so will be a bit before I change my daily. Between us if I can stretch to it I've got a Ghibli in mind next Edited January 16, 2018 by Nello
0 MikeyRules
Oooh like the Ghibli quite a bit! There's always a good selection going through auction too! Alcantaradelta I found this for you at Manheim in Manchester which is my local auction house. It's a July 2012 1.4SE Multiair with 60485 miles, 2 keys but only partial service history and a cloth interior. I've had a quick look and it needs all 4 wheels refurbing and a couple of cosmetic touch ups, and obviously a service. There are 3 stamps in the book up to July 15 @ 35k. If interested I can email you a condition report... Nello

0 MikeyRules
Nice one Mikey - I'll give you a shout when I'm ready for one then There's 17 in a ''buy it now'' auction at the moment... Most are 15 or 65 plate V6 Diesels with less than 30k on the clock, from £25k plus fees. Or if you prefer petroleum spirit there's a 3.0S @ £30k! 0 Nello
Yes! Especially with Chocolate Brown leather and the 21" wheels....................please I will probably become the re-badge specialist before then though as my eldest is 17 this year. He'll be after a cheap 500 but we've also spied up Ypsilon's for a badge-exchange as well. (secretly looking forward to one of those as another car as well!)
