Theturbokiller
So my bus has done 3 turbos yes 3. First replacement lasted 60 miles, the seconded didn’t even get to the end of the road. The machnic checked the oil feed pipe and that’s fine. Anyone got any ideas of what to look at. Cheers
0 mikebh8
Hi, not an expert but:To a turbo goes oil, water and gases.Assuming oil is fine and water, at least at the second one, didn't even get hot is gases.Could it be that you were so unlucky you got two broken ones in a row? Were they new? Is either one of the above or on the assembly stage something was overlooked.I'm sure someone with more experience will step in and give his/hers opinion. 0 bignev
As the turbo shaft floats on a pressurised film of oil, was the oil return pipe also checked it's clean? If it can't get out it won't go in. And hopefully the car wasn't revved when starting it up for the first time after changing it.I don't know if it's possible on these but priming with oil before refitting is a good idea, even if some or even most of it spills out as it is put on. 0 gordy
Did you test the Waste Gate actuator was working before installing. Or did a new actuator come with each Turbo.
