Fairweather
Hi, I'm a new forum member and have had my 07 Grand Voyager for a year. I love it. Done over 20K miles already. It is comfortable and the grand kids love road and camping trips with us. A couple of weeks ago we went out with friends (?) and the wife got into a real snit with her other half. When she got back to the car she wrenched the side door open and now the central locking system won't work on that door. It opens with the interior buttons if the lock is undone but will not lock/unlock or open with the key. Does anyone know what is wrong or how it can be fixed? As a last resort I can take it to a dealer but I always like to fix things myself if at all possible. Many thanks for any help.
bignev
Hi there and welcome! Now in fairness it could just be a coincidence.... But, probably, not uncommonly, the little central lock motor fails. If you are able to you can confirm it, take the inner door covers off and see if it twitches when the lock / unlock is tried. If nothing happens then you could take the actuator from the other door, they are the same but different arms attached, and try it on the offending side. If that works, they are as cheap as chips now, quite often ebay suppliers. If not, I suppose it might be a rod come off which by this pint you'll have seen of course!! Fairweather
Hi bignev. A new actuator arrived this morning so I have now replaced the old part and everything is working well. Not too difficult a job but it would be easier if you could get your hands inside the door skin! Was rather awkward for an old bloke like me kneeling inside the van. Still, done now, so thanks for the correct steer on what the problem was.
