frogland
Has anyone removed the turbo from the top with the engine still in place on a 2.8 crd ?I know it's a going to be a pig and a lot has to be removed to gain access but I won't need the car for a while so i've got the time. I don't want to pull the engine out, I'm not that well equiped. Can any parts of the subframe be removed safely to gain better acess to the bolts from underneath ?Cheers. 0 mikebh8
Hi, you can do all the job from the top man, that if you only remove the turbo, if you however want to remove the manifold too, you have to go underneath.First remove the wipers cover and motor, battery, water tank, and all other pipes that are in your way. Hope it helps.

0 mikebh8
Thanks, well to remove the manifold you have to have loosened the exhaust, there are 4 bolts (10mm) and you may or may not be able to reuse the gasket, I failed to replace mine with a new one and now I can hear a slightly tuning noise. If is more than that you get gases inside the cabin. To do it from underneath, you need about 40-50 cm extension bar/s.Don't use any silicon or seals on the exhaust system and if need it replaced, for the sake of spending few pounds more just do it...in theory you will be keeping the car... Hope it helps.
