0 andyb2000
Good info, can you guys feed back on how good they are and what info it does and doesn't give back? (May be tricky to spot) For example, will it give you ABS info, air bag, automatic gearbox info, etc. I'm curious which scanners give you more diagnostic info to get a bit of a list of them. 0 mikebh8
Hi, its a decent tool. It gave me a ABS fault on a ford transit, it showed the side and fault(I.e negative open circuit, permanent rear passenger side), I could teat them while driving...It has features like functionality test, for example on a xsara Picasso I tested the injectors and you could hear them click. Many, the only wird thing I can say about it(regarding the GV) is that it does not have a diesel option when choosing to connect with the ECU, you have to connect to all systems instead, still it gives live data and faults, for example the key remote control present or not, the list can continue, immobiliser and more. Moreover most of the cars have Delphi components in it which are compatible with this software. Example, when I was trying to get my car started, I called a nobile "mechanic" with a snapon tester...after a half an hour he replaced the fuel rayl sensor with no luck...paid the man £70 for the time wasted and ordered the Delphi (new aboutit from a friend that has one but not in the area anymore), is then when I finally got to the bottom of it, it was showing error 42(fuel level circuit open, permanent) where the snapon didn't show it, which was related to the ASD relay which eventually helped starting the car. I am happy with the results/price wise. Hope it helps.
0 QinteQ
"Good info, can you guys feed back on how good they are and what info it does and doesn't give back?" Might be better to insert GV's in the line Andy ! "Good info, can you guys feed back on how good they are on GV's and what info it does and doesn't give back?" I'm sorry mikebh8 had to pay but even the best get caught out. I've used high end snap-on's that are useless with the CRD's. I own a legal registered MaxiDAS that will not read CRD's, its ballistic fast and brilliant in every respect but flatly denies any Chrysler diesel exists even though it returns P & U codes. The only one I can guarantee is the Launch x431 diagun, the 'grey' I bought in 2013 is still going strong. Anyone with a knackked 'grey' one can consider....... Experience suggests that out of 20 proper top-of-the- range diagnostic scanners only a few will work in all areas, but that's always been the case. 0 bignev
Hi @@mikebh8 and @@karmannski, does it see the Transmission Control Module by any lovely chance? On my 02, the one my mate has won't see the TCM, but will read the one on our 05 inc each solenoid. Edited June 28, 2017 by bignev

0 karmannski
GV 2.8 CRD 2006 stow and go It looks like Delphi that came today is not original, in the installation module it tells to turn down the NET. Looks like a copy. Not sure if it will be any good but I will have a go.
0 QinteQ
Dip yer toe in here karmannski and read this M8. I've used a clone for a long time with no issues and as stated earlier my legal MS708 would not read my 05 2.8 - its a minefield !
0 mikebh8
Mine is a "copy" also, it is actually a hacked version and it works on a laptop (not necessarily but this how I use it) kept just for that with the firewall and/or antivirus off, wired or wireless network connection off and never update the version over the internet...The unit itself is not a copy only the software is.That's why is only few £££ Enjoy. 0 QinteQ
From the early copy's to now many have transferred the diags to 7 & 10 tablets such as the Nexus O/S and others. Here for example just over the road from Andy a pre installed 10" updated and update-able for cheap money. Many years ago I bought a single manufacturer diag for Fiat and managed to load on it x3 other makers when I realised there was spare memory space to load all for for the price of one, so many things can be done. Its been in my box for years and years - I'll test it on a GV CRD and if it reads ok Any can have it for free, he knows where he can find me on Wednesdays. 0 andyb2000
Good info here fellas, yeah @@QinteQ maybe I should have been more specific in what I said! haha. I just got my hands on a foxwell nt300 and just to report back that it does NOT do the job either, so one more to add to the pile of doesn't do the GV's (Or at least my 05 2.8CRD edition).Actually on that @@QinteQ can I pop over next Wednesday (5th) as I've replaced wheel rotation sensors which cleared by brake warning light but I've still got "TRAC OFF" still so could do with a code read if you'd be able to oblige. (PS: Sorry for this thread being hijacked and going off on one, I think it's useful to know on the readers though) bignev
0 QinteQ
No probs andy, known good starts should automatically switch of the TRAC anyway if the wheel rotation sensors are reading right, but yes I'll have a look. I've dug out that 7 series Autel ODB/ODB2 for you, never tested it on a GV [can't even REM what year I bought it] but I'll take it to our JIMBO's you try it and if it reads your car you can have it FOC anyway, it'll only get left in my box anyway ! I keep telling the group .. .. readers read & scan means generic, if it does not say diagnostics it does not do more than P/O-0-2-3-4 [note does not do P30 manufacturers] ODB2. Much better to bite-the-bullet Best of luck. http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/images/obd2-codes-explanation.png bignev
0 mikebh8
Just an FYI, the Delphi would not give you codes starting with P or the "traditional" way let's say, instead it gives the description. However for the full list of codes of what Qinetiq showed above, except on google, there is Autodata(mine is a "copy").Very handy as in some areas internet is poor or missing. Hope it helps. Edited July 1, 2017 by mikebh8

0 gordy
There was a 2.8CRD think about 2006 advertised a fortnight ago going cheap for spares or repairs and on their fault paragraph they included a picture of a code reader with codes that the vehicle had in its memory. Actron Auto Scanner Plus CP9180. And was showing code P0765 and below it Shift Sol summit Malfunction. I say summit cos light shinning on screen hiding it. andyb2000
0 QinteQ
Just today I tested the 10" x431 Pro v3 2017 @ grey £300 as an update for my old x431 [non v3 / non pro] 3" v1 2013 which still works perfectly. The new one would not read my VIN and as such unsurprisingly found no codes even though I introduced x2 known codes just before arriving for the test. Additionally it was hit and megga miss with the bluetooth connetion - so nogo, care to check what people are selling folks bignev
0 mikebh8
Been there, done that. I have 5-6 "code reader" devices...none of them competely working. As I said in a previous post, a mobile mechanic came out once with a snap on tester and couldn't find an error that eventually (after I bought the delphi) got my engine started.I mentioned above that was around 100, I was looking for some old purchases on eBay and I found it, it was 55 with free delivery. Good value for the money.
0 QinteQ
I've got access to 3 different up to date snap-on within 3 minutes of here and several other brands, none of which were to my satisfaction because they don't do what my existing old x431 [non v3 / non pro] 3" v1 2016 edition does. The old v1 x431 does do everything on my 05 2.8 CRD, but that doesn't mean that it or any specific scanner does all things across the whole range . . none of them do . . . ask anyone who knows these things and has to use them all day long every day. Most small garages have two for a reason, bigger places also have dual trace scopes in conjunction with a diagnostic scanner and diagnostic equipment is useless without experience & expensive training or for the novice even more expensive a scanner with guided diagnostics / the HGS. No one diagnostic scanner does all parts of all cars. My observation is that the GV/Town & Country does not have a CRD as far as the Americans are concerned, so from the cheap Haynes manuals to expensive diagnostic scanners there's no diesel powertrain module even if it does read your VIN number properly and many don't. bignev and andyb2000
