0 scrufgp
as i replied to last post i had similar issue and it was the fuel rail pressure release valve fault ps i also replaced all the filters including the heater/filter housen etc........ at Emmence expense over 2 voyagers btw stop asking for peoples opinions and taking guesses at the problem pay a specialist extra few quid to sort the problem once and for all honestly sounds like im being disrespectful but im not im trying to help you save the money that i previously spent with same problemoh ps i had the same issue with my previous 2.5 voyager too that i never got to bottom of the issue yet spent a small fortune and ended up selling for spares/repairi paid £3k for my 2006 2.8 and had the problem 3 weeks after i bought ithence i paid a specialist to sort it out for me(no one likes to loose £3k) honestly friend it will be money well spent
0 blackvelvet
I just got this problem too.Drove from Wales to Bolton on Fri.Saturday morning the car started, ran for a few seconds then stalled. The fuse for the fuel heater had blown. Unfortunately, no tools.I called the AA they somehow got the car running, and I used it all day Sat.Sunday morning the same issue as above. Fuse blown.Called the AA again but this time the guy couldn't start the car, the fuse kept blowing.I guess the fuel heater wiring has a short circuit.I'm stuck in Bolton for exams and no Chrysler.I have a mobile electrical guy coming tomorrow. If he finds the fault, I will post it.Meanwhile if anyone can shed a light on this problem it will be a great help.I've printed Andy's post for the auto electrician. frogland
0 frogland
Im following this as I have the same short. If your electrician finds it it would be useful to know the colour of the wire and the location.

The one in the middle is the fuel heater...if it helps. It joins the "crankcase breather heater" and both go to fuel heater relay.See picture attached. frogland
0 blackvelvet
What I find strange FROGthe fuse also serves the fuel pump.So how can the fuse be disconnected? unless someone has found the path of the cable and diverted the power to the pump from somewhere else..If so it could lead to major problems finding out exactly where. 0 andyb2000
Hi @@blackvelvetThe fuse doesn't supply the fuel pump also, just the heater, hence how it was totally removed (as was the relay) on mine but electric lift pump still worked. See the diagram on my fusebox which illustrates this: The highlighted is the lift pump fuse, above it is the fuel heater fuse.
0 blackvelvet
Thanks for both replies Andy. I thought the diagram told me that the fuse for fuel heater is also fuel pump.I will check again tomorrow. My car has been starting fairly well since I returned from Bolton. Of course the weather is warmer, so I don't believe Bolton is to blame. However, when the engine is running,I notice the RPM doesn't change at all when I shift to drive from park. and vice versa.Do you know where the pump is located? is it in the tank?My manual says it is in front of the rear axle. 2006 2.8Thanks Mate
0 andyb2000
No problem, yeah look on the fusebox that should confirm it. I think the 2006 is the same as mine, so yes fuel lift pump (heater, filter) is beside the fuel tank approx in the middle.(Remember this is the low pressure primer/lift pump not the main high pressure pump that is driven from the timing belt) Take a look at my video that covered all of the cold problems I had https://www.patreon.com/posts/chrysler-grand-2-17356742I cover the fuel filter, fuel heater and it's housing on the video and also show where it's located/mounted so should help you identify.Approx 11min50 is where I cover the fuel filter and pump. Oh, also video where I change the filter: Edited March 8, 2018 by andyb2000
