Unknown Technology In Backmirror: "off | Auto" Button, Light Sensor (On Both Sides)

Hello.

 

In my used Grand Voyage 4 i a backmirror with unidentified technology.
Attached a photo.

 

What's this?

How can I use it?

There is a textile sheathed cable that goes into the ceiling.

 

And at some times, in this navigation radio i Read "phone in" or similar.
But not reproduceable.

I think it's just for the auto dim mirror to stop headlight glare

Yep that's it for the mirror, supposed to automatically dim if it detects dazzle from the rear, or you can shut it off. Mine actually has worked!!!!!!

 

Don't know what the "phone in" is on the radio though.

Can't imagine the phone thing would be compatible with any modern phone. Tech has moved on so much since these units were made

Unless I suppose it was bluetooth, but I've not come accross it.

Me either, still think too early for connecting phones. Had a phone kit in an 06 BMW which involved plugging a big Nokia into a slot in the center console!
