MikeHunt
Evening all, as I said, hello and looking for help.Bought a 2007 2.8 diesel Grand voyager a few months ago as it seemed the ideal vehicle for transporting a disabled person around europe in May. Drives nicely but following a full service and overall inspection has had to have some work done. Now, here's the thing, engine oil was way high at service and after only a short time has risen again. The garage think it's either fuel or ATF getting into the oil as there is no sign of milkiness indicating water but they freely admit that they are no experts on these vehicles.Anybody help with words of wisdom? Also any one point me in the right direction for a transmission oil cooler if ours can't be repaired?Have also posted this in the grand voyager forum
Neilgibson
DIesel particulate filters weren't fitted until the latest model in 2008 as far as I am aware. Diesel in the oil can often be identified by the smell. Leak off testing is well within the scope of the home mechanic using a homemade tester. I am surprised that the exhaust isn't mentioned. No smoke? High pressure diesels don't run well on faulty injectors. A broken piston ring is also possible.
MikeHunt
Hi Neil, thanks for the response, yes, there is some smoke.going to get the injectors rebuilt as a precaution, hopefully not a ring as I don't fancy the cost of a full teardown!
