Hi All,

 

Similar to twe, kids stopping me getting on the forum often enough! Need to get better l.

 

I got my Delta 1.4 m air service last month but my mechanic didn't reset the Maintenance Schedule, I noticed it says when it expires under Setting My Car Maintenance Schedule on the car radio display.

 

I thought that a dash warning would come on if service is due?

 

Are they any problems if it is not reset soon. I thought I read diesels dpf may not recycle? But wondered if anything happens on the petrols.

There are two warning's that need resetting when doing a service, one is for oil degradation and the other is for service based on miles. I'd return to you Tech and get him to reset both. When the service mile indicator counts down to zero days or the oil sensor senses the oil is shot that's when the service spanner appears on the dash to warn you a service is due...

 

I've not heard about diesel regens not happening if overdue? Both of my Fiat Alfa specialists say it's fine to drive without reset, but obviously always clear them as part of the service.

Pretty sure they are 'just' warnings - not that you want to ignore them but nothing will stop happening just because they have not been reset. I personally always change the Oil yearly regardless of mileage and have read good oil is especially important in the Multi-Air.

Glad to know there is no issues if not renewed.

 

Will go back to my tech and get it sorted.

 

Still need to get the ePar and diagnostic connection so am little prepared for any issues.

Regarding the oil degradation i was under the impression that on diesels they might stop regenerating at some point after the warning light has come on to reduce further degradation of lubrication quality, no idea if it's true but I read it somewhere and it kind of makes sense.The handbook is very strict on an oil change once this warning light appears so could well be true. Afaik The service warning which is separate can be ignored if necessary. Edited March 12, 2017 by Rossocorsa

I had the oil degradation come on after the 20 000 mile service came and went - it lasts for about 400 miles after the last service reset. Approximately 500 miles later.... the oil can flashes red.

 

Gave me the 'willies' as I was on route to Gatwick at 70mph on the M4 at the time, with my Mum, freezing cold and stressed out.

 

Ended up having go to main dealer and ask for them to reset the dash warner light.

(The oil can flashes red).

 

Lightened the wallet by £30, but peace of mind etc.

I had to prove that the oil change had been done, by proof with the service stamps MOT date etc.

Might all tie up with my tech when I get the cambelts and waterpump done.

 

Yep will be changing oil yearly regardless of mileage as per my old alfa. Wanted to change every 6 months (without filter change) with my Pela oil extractor but didn't work on the Delta for some reason.

Does the oil degrade light able to to at home with an obd reader ? is is just the amount of starts and type of driving ?

 whats the warning for the oil sensor ? is this different ?.

just found this and it worked ,,!!!

Reset oil light after service... that is very important. And don't skip the oil change either.

1-turn on the ignition key,
2-press the gas pedal and hold it,
3-press the brake pedal 7 times without relesing the gas pedal,
4-keep pressing the gas pedal for 60sec.
5-Release the gas pedal and turn of the ignition key,
6- Wait for 60sec.
Then turn on the ignition key and start the engine. Check if the service/oil change light turned off.
That's all! The vehicle is Fiat Doblo, works on Linea, Qubo/fiorino also vauxhall combo.
