0 blackvelvet
If the glass is fastened to a plastic backing plate it can be removed. the backing plates sometimes slot over small tabs. If your's is broken remove the glass carefully and take a look.Wear goggles the mirror glass can splinter.

0 QinteQ
It takes all of 5 mins to take the entire heavy mirror housing off and do the job safely with warm fingers in the living room. YouTube is your friend. bignev
0 GVCamper
Found a local 05 being sold in parts because of broken gearbox today, bought the headlights, rear lamp, mirror and some fidgets. Mirror housing was silver and my car is black so gently pried out the mirror and refitted to mine, 5 minute job did the charm. Thanks for the help guys.
