What Revs Can I Expect When Starting My 2.8 Crd?

Hi all, still new to this. When I start my 2.8 CRD GV if I put my foot to the floor the rev counter goes up to 2500 RPM and stays there.

Should it go higher than that?

I'm going to guess this is an automatic, in which case this is normal, the revs are limited when you're not in gear. Same on all of them (Not sure if this is common on auto boxes or not, these have been the only auto's I've ever owned).

As Andyb says the revs are limited to 2500 when not in gear.

I've owned quite a few autos as Mrs Woodie has an auto only licence & this is the only vehicle that's had a rev limiter on it for neutral.

Not sure why chrysler thought they had to put this on but they must have had some reasoning behind it.

I've not known it on any other car, had to ask about it on here when I first noticed it

Thanks guys. My wife has a Mercedes E320 and that doesn't do it, I just sold my Jeep Grand with the 3 litre V6 Mercedes engine and that didn't do it either, so something new to me. Not a problem now I know it is normal..... Thanks again all.
