2005 Grand Voyager Parking Assist - Should It Make Sound?

Hi,

 

We have just purchased a 2005 Grand Voyager and love it so far. 

Just one question that I've not been able to work out yet, relating the parking assist. Should it make sound?

 

I have the LED's that light up the closer you get and show the direction of any obstruction, however we can't work out if the parking assist is a visual only or if it should have sound as well?

It does when the LED's go to red

It should also do a little initialise beep when you engage reverse, so I'd guess it's beeper is bust! (It's unusual but not impossible)

 

BTW Factory fit version is a circle with green yellow and red LEDs and the beeper is the middle of the circle.

 

The control for parking assist is in the left rear quarter panel, kinda behind where the jack sits, so it's tricky to get at (You can probably feel it with your hand). I'm planning on taking these panels apart soon (opposite side) as I want to get at the amplifier.

I have just noticed parking sensors will not work properly if the handbrake is not disengaged properly, must be some sort of switch on the handbrake. Might be worth checking that out.
