Question

Hi guys .

Can anybody help.

I have a 2006 crd with that stupid clockspring handbrake. My cable as  snapped at the joining piece on the drivers rear side .

But the cable is still tight leading up to the handbrake mechanism and I can't pull the cable back to give me some play and I have tried to get into the handbrake mechanism inside the vehicle but because the handbrake does not come up very far I cannot get the cover of .

Any ideas how I can get some slag so I can lift the brake handle up so I can get the cover over the handle.

Thanks

This is probably a useless suggestion but I needed to get an extra click on the ratchet which meant pulling it up more than it wanted to go - so I straddled the handbrake lever, pulled with all my might which gave me three clicks on the ratchet.

I assume you only want 1/3rd of the pull to release the handle.

If all else fails, and if you don't live too far away you are welcome to help yourself to the whole handbrake mechanism on my 'spare' 2006 GV - you will have to dismantle it though!.
