Undertray

Hi again guys, I recently totaled my engine undertray. It was already damaged and hanging lpwer than it should and I dragagged it off, in several pieces, on a boulder placed at the edge of my brother in laws garden that he had placed there to stop cars reversing over it. DOH! anyways two questions ; firstly, is it  really needed on my 2.8 CRD? Secondly, does the tray normally come in three pieces? Is it needed. My answer is I didn't know one was fitted when new. Do I want one no.

Hi guys, none of my 3 petrol versions have had one, but I guess it might have something to do with noise as well as aerodynamics on a diesel.

To be honest, I've owned two 2.8CRDiesels and neither of them had these undertrays as they seem to be the first thing damaged and not bothered to be replaced.

 

Never found a need/issue with not having one.

I'm sure there used to keep the engine area clear of unwanted debri like dust, stones and anything likely to damage the electricals. However they don't stop those little furry long tailed beasties getting in that build nests in warm places like on mine atop the engine.
