Is There A Way Of Knowing When Timing Belt Was Last Done

I have had my car 2 years and it didn't come with service history and i was wondering if there is any way of determining age of cam belt or when it was last done.

 

I have seen figures of £700 quoted here and elsewhere to get it done by a garage. Is this easily done using one of the kits available on ebay. My brother in law would give it a good go (the guy likes a challenge)

Hi there and where do you live? My mechanic charges £170 inc coolant plus kit and waterpump equalling around £290.00. Thats the cheapest anywhere i believe. I can give you his number if you wish. But he does recommend the waterpump bought from main dealer.
