Hi All, I have a 2008 GV 2.8 with 55k on the clock. three weeks ago it developed a "chirping" sound when changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. this happens every time i'm driving. this chirping is quite loud. sometime i get another very quiet "chirp" from 4th to 5th, and again sometime when i'm changing down manually from 4th to 3rd. i get no "chirping when going into reverse or drive, or going up and down through the gears manually except the odd 4th to 3rd. (6 speed tiptronic type gearbox) done a little googling to find out what the issue is, found out it could be low oil, or burnt oil. The gearbox has no dipstick so couldn't check the level. bought some ATF4 mopar oil and a kit to suction the old oil out, removed about 2 litres of old oil. refilled the GB with the Mopar and put in 3.8l as the manual said. still getting the "chirp" two weeks later. Today i have found where i think the chirp is coming from, under the battery is a set of cables plugged in to a foil covered bit on the end of the gearbox... (Please see the attached picture of what i mean). Can someone please tell me what is inside here and is this likely to be my issue? if not, anyone else got / had this issue and resolved it? Thanks All.

Hi I've had my Cruiser nearly two years and love it despite having to replace what seems like most of the suspension, the multi function light switch and the battery that was killed by the fog lights coming on by themselves. The current problem seems more serious. The drive wheels locked up with the car in reverse gear and the clutch in. The car wouldn't come out of gear at first but wrestled it into neutral. From there it wouldn't select any gear initially but eventually got it going to drive it home. Next day there was gear oil on the passenger side suspension arm. The garage took it in and removed the gearbox end plate where it was leaking. A bolt has spun out of one of the shafts. They tightened it up but said there's no lock tab or pin to it (tightens into the bore of the shaft so nowhere for one to go). They said it would probably work loose again - maybe a day maybe a year so not to trust it and the best solution is a good second hand box. I'm wary - if this is a common fault I may end up with a big bill and another duff box. One morning I took the car out of the garage and found 1st and 2nd had become reverse gears! It hasn't happened since but obviously I can no longer use the car. Any advice, please? I've spent a fair bit of time and money on the car so don't want to scrap it if I can avoid it.

Noisy Clutch When Pedal Is Pressed
Smileyguy posted a question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Good afternoon, I have a 08 Voyager exec 2.4 petrol converted to LPG about 6 months ago It's fantastic. BUT, 3 weeks ago this happened. When I fully depress my clutch pedal, there is a really bad grinding noise and a vibration like trying to force the car into gear. (This is without moving the gear leverout of neutral.) I was advised to have the clutch replaced, which I did, but the fault is still there. I was also told that as the clutch is a complete sealed unit, it wasn't a problem with fluid levels. I have noticed that if I press the clutch 3/4 down then there is no noise and it goes into gear perfectly. Thereis no loss of power or indication of the clutch slipping. Any ideas out there??? Thanks -
Hi I have a 2011 2.8 crd ltd auto fully loaded. I purchased this last year with 18k on the clock, and in a year it's at 42k , I've had it independently serviced, but transmission oil not checked, as its under the car. Recently it's started missing gears, and now more frequently it's getting stuck in first gear, with high revs. I've had it diagnosed at 2 different garages with P0734, P0792 and P1790 codes. The garage who are transmission specialists have said they need to strip the transmission and recondition all the parts at a cost of £1500 can anyone please advise if there is a simpler less costly option or do I go back to the garage. I need to get the car back on the road ASAP Regards Ran

Hi, Does anyone have the answer to my issue. I have a 4th gen grand voyager with a gearbox issue, up until a few weeks ago the car drove spot on until alternator belt snapped, I tried to nurse the car home but all manner of lights started to illuminate including gearbox jumping in and out of gear?? Pulled over and called AA, towed home as didn't have a belt, fast forward... New belt fitted and battery fully charged I drove the car, However there is now a problem... All the selection boxes for the gears are illuminated apart from P, D. the car will also jump straight to L when I first start off in the morning, But after it is warm drives spot on again most of the time... I have dropped the pan and renewed fluid and filter, Replaced both input and output sensors and changed solenoid pack and new gasket but the car still wont sort itself.. is there anything else I should or can try?? Any ideas would be appreciated.. Cheers

Grand Voyager 2.8 Crd Auto Gearbox Atf Issue
JoeM posted a question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Hi, I have 2005 Grand Voyager 2.8CRD Automatic I have just done ATF Oil and filter change for regular maintenance been no problems in past, now gearbox it kicks at low speed, I believe problem related to part store providing wrong ATF I asked for ATF+4 but they provide ATF 4000 insisting this was new improved version of ATF+4, is this true? Plus just been to local garage see if possible for flush of old ATF basically said no and the gearbox is Mercedes Benz box so need to take car to Merc Garage is this true that 4th Gen 2.8 CRD have Merc Auto Gearbox? Has anyone experienced similar issues? Thanks:) -
Hi All, somewhere in the threads is the start of this topic but I thought that I would give you all an update as you had offered support before. The problem was the fact that the gears did not always change up and held in an intermediate gear from time to time. I took it to Chrysler (and other Fiat brands) main dealer in Guildford (Bishops) and had them run a diagnosis, fearing all the while that they would come back with an ECU problem that would probably have cost thousands. They told me that it was caused by a faulty brake switch and when I expressed a good measure of scepticism that this could affect the gearbox they managed to convince me. Apparently the auto Fiat 500s sometimes have the same problem. Now the replacement switch has been fitted, all runs perfectly, so for an outlay of around £236 for the diagnostics, switch and labour, repaid to me by Harratts of Wakefield, the supplying dealer, all is now cured. I have now taken out a Warrantywise warranty at £30 a month just in case it comes back, or anything else of course. I love the car by the way, it does all that I ask, responsive and pretty fuel efficient with a very comfortable ride. Rod
