I have had my car 2 years and it didn't come with service history and i was wondering if there is any way of determining age of cam belt or when it was last done. I have seen figures of £700 quoted here and elsewhere to get it done by a garage. Is this easily done using one of the kits available on ebay. My brother in law would give it a good go (the guy likes a challenge)

Sheen1 am if the car is still driveable does AA BRC still pay for any work done? I thought it has to break down first?

I have asked similar question on different forum. My 2.5CRD revs/idles at about 900rpm and to me that seems rather high. I have a Mercedes w202 2.5 turbodiesel auto and that revs at around 500rpm

Would a dirty fuel filter cause this? I understand the fuel filter is underneath the car. Weird design that

This is the strange thing, it passed an MOT just like 3 months ago. When you rev it stationery there is very little smoke but when youfloor the pedal while driving there is a plume of black smoke which is actually embarassing

And how does one fix/correct this

Are the injectors easy to change and where are they on a CRD2.5. I can post engine pic for someone to point them out to me

Wow why does it cost so much to get this changed. You can get a timing belt on ebay £70. £870 is almost the value of the car I take it its not a job an amateur can diy

I have had this problem nearly 1 and half years. Its a 2.5CRD 2001 model and first thing in morning there is a cloud of white smoke, i mean a big cloud and its worse when cold. This clears after about 5 seconds and for the rest of the day no smoke at all when i start the engine. Only seems to be when engine is cold any ideas

It has an AC switch so i assume its got air conditioning (never worked) and then the big dial for controlling fan speed. So if filter is blocked is it simple case replacing it or cleaning

The switch on dash illuminates but seat doesnt heat up. Will try to look under the seat and see if any wires are loose

The one thing i hate about these cars is the electrics are really rubbish Drivers heated seat works but the passenger one doesn't. Help

Another thing, when i start the car there is white smoke, could this be related to the thermostat issue?

Mine belches black smoke under hard acceleration. Any ideas?

Have only had mine 1 and half years and use it only weekend days out with kids. Lovely car, quite fast for its size (2.5 CRD). Only problems i have with mine is white smoke when it starts for very first time which quickly clears and sometimes it cuts out if i try to overtake/accelerate too much. Last garage pretty much said its little problems i should ignore but i prefer to get them sorted

Great cars they are i love the toys too. Its shame the workmanship or materials used are not the best The electrics are usually a problem

Wow how did you manage that. I have a 2001 2.5crd and i have Torque Pro (paid version of whats touted as the best of the android obd apps), i have OBD car doctor and Carista. None of them will read the codes or diagnose my GV. However i have had limited success with OBD car doctor which has always managed to switch of EML light but thats it. Could you please tell me which app you used to read the codes and what year your car is. Thanks
