  1. Hi to all, The stalling story continues. I have replaced the filter housing and the car was golden for about 3 weeks but while we were in Wales the engine started cutting in and out and finally out. The RAC brought us back on the back of one their trucks and the car is now at our local (good) mechanic. The RAC says it is the high pressure pump that has gone and we are looking at a sourcing a refurb which is all fine. However before the engine is worked on to get to the pump I had a question from him. He has has conflicting information about whether their is a lift pump in the tank, we want to check it if there is one, and rather than taking the tank out to look does anyone here know. He is flat out busy and it would save time to know. It is a stow and go 2006 2.8 CRD and it would be a great help to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks to you all in advance. David.
  2. Good morning everyone, I am changing the fuel filter housing due to the stalling of the engine but before I go ahead with it I have the most basic of questions. Attached is a pic of the pipe attachment to the housing and it is not obvious how to take it off. There is a plastic collet/sleeve the pipe seems to fit onto and I am reluctant to do anything forceful to remove the pipe just in case I break the plastic bit and cannot source a replacement. Anybody have wise words to remove the pipe in an engineering way rather than brute force. After they are disconnected it looks very straightforward. Thanks for any help. David
  3. Thanks Soupstone, That is the next thing to change. I am in a state of wishful thinking hoping it is the wiring but knowing it is 99% unlikely. Very helpfully a previous post gave where to buy the whole assembly. Thanks again All the best David
  4. Hello all, I have a Grand Voyager 2.8 diesel which is suffering the engine cutting out when driving along. I am working through all the suggestions on the site which have been very helpful. Deciding on whether to change the fuel filter housing I pulled out the heating plug in it and looked over the wiring, and possible heat damage, to the plug. Attached is a pic of the wiring after I had stripped away the old tape around and it was obvious the plug had been changed sometime in the past. After stripping the insulation away it was clear that that the insulation between the bare wires had not been done well and the two wires had been touching. I haven't checked any fuses to see if they had blown but I wondered, with not much hope nor logical reason why, if the wires were creating an intermittent contact could this be the reason the engine was cutting out. For the life of me I cannot see why this should be the cause but I thought to ask before I continued down the path of finding the fault. A very good weekend to you and thanks in advance. David
  5. HI Karmmanski, thanks for getting back to me. The pipes are under the drivers seat on the right side of the car. The liquid is clear because it is the water I have just poured in coming out. It is also warm/hot as it comes out. The pipes are located above the exhaust pipe. Soapstone and BigNev - After your suggestion and a bit of research AKA looking at the shelves at the local bricolage I found a high temperature liquid metal that I figured would do the job. However things have moved on a bit and we have left it with the RAC to sort out at a garage here and they are going to fit a new pipe. because we have to get back for work and when it is sorted we will come back to pick the car up. Thank you for taking the time to help with suggestions, they were much appreciated. Have a good week David
  6. Hi to all, I have a hole in the rear heating pipe (that is what I think it is) and all the engine looses all its coolant through the hole. I am France with the car and need to get it home 500 miles away. Pics are attached. The local garage, RAC contact, is saying it is going to be very difficult and take a long time. If it at was home I would try brazing it just to have a temporary fix but I am not so do not have any gear to do the job. So I am searching for ideas that will get the car on the road and able to drive 500 miles. Thanks in advance for any help. My best David
  7. That's brilliant thank you very much. I assumed it would be a Chrysler agent part but thought it would be best to see if there was an alternative. All the best David
  8. Hi to all, I have a 2006 2.8CRD with stow and go and self levelling shocks. I have had a hex head bolt shear on the rear shock absorber at the top fixing. I sorted out a hex socket replacement but wondered if anyone knows of a place I can source a correct replacement. Thank you for any help received and a good weekend to all. David
