Start Stop And Battery. Anyone Has The Start Stop Actually Working?
ForzaLancia replied to Dido's question in Chrysler Delta
S/S is a bit of an emissions cheat, makes the mpg seem better than really is Similarly the 'sport' button, that is what the car the maker wanted to give you but put in a different remap and set it as the default to make the mpg seem good. S/S needs a different type of battery as the usage is obviously higher but the gap between charges is much shorter so needs different battery technology. Glad my car hasnt got it TBH -
the EGR vale is part of an assembly on the side of the engine, that includes the thermostat, EGR vale and a heat exchanger. The EGR valve is the black part on the end of the right side in the main picture and sits toward the bulkhead when mounted in the car https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-2016-ALFA-ROMEO-GIULIETTA-1-6-DIESEL-EGR-VALVE-55229740/143564968330?hash=item216d23918a%3Ag%3AFswAAOSw-AFefHhd&LH_ItemCondition=3000 The same part is used on a Vauxhall and is half the Alfa price if you need a new one. mine has 112k miles on, wears it very well so far

your car looks like one I was originally looking for, white, black roof, 2.0 engine, ended up with same spec but savannah beige. I got mine from a car auction for £1650 plus buyers premium of £500, a more regular BCA customer only pays £100 per car, that was back in Aug last year. It is now a year older and a bad time to sell, so make sure you put a reserve on ebay! HTH

A quick look at the EPER and I found this in the 'detection devices' section of the signalling section. It is not airbag or ABS related so might it relate to movement or entry? There is a picture below of what is looks like, but no indication of where in the bonnet it lives, guessing round the perimeter somewhere. HTH -

Hi, congrats on the purchase the parcel shelf has a couple of roller blinds build in, so when the rear seat rest is moved the 'roller blind' moves with it and the boot contents stays hidden. Hopefully just a matter of hooking them on, remember to unclip before folding the back seat as it will pull the material off the roll. Guess how I found out? not 100% on the Code light, my old Alfas do that, but cant sat I have noticed it in the Delta. The alarm and immobilizer are separate systems. The alarm is mounted under the scuttle/windscreen, does it sound when locking or unlocking? HTH -
having dabbled fixed a couple of Alfa selespeeds, the ECU tends to be reliable and the problem is likely to be interupted power supply somewhere. Likely candidates are the relay (sele owners kept a spare in the glove box), fuse, and any connectors that may have corroded. On the the sele there was a multiplug that connects the auto unit to the main loom and that was well known for causing issues, a similar one probably exists on the Delta, find it and clean it up along with any fuses and relays. The other thing is that seles loved a decent battery, and would not work with a battery that would happily power on a non auto car. I suspect a voltage leak somewhere and that has drained the battery and subsequently affected the auto unit. HTH

Hi, congratulations on your purchase. Getting the cambelt done would be the first thing to look at, although it is well under on miles but needs to be changed on age, rubber perishes over time. HTH

I used the nuts on the terminals to run some wire to a third battery just to make sure. HTH

https://www.partsworld-uk.com/products/ashtray-delta ashtray for a fiver, 45euros elsewhere, useful as a coin holder I also got a wiper motor assembly from a Bravo for £30 (from £300 but £150 elsewhere) as the spindles on mine are worn and occasionally the wipers hit each other on full speed. And some key covers as mine look like a dog has chomped them, £20 but that much elsewhere for one. HTH

not sure of the spec, it was an auto box, possibly an SE, but not sure of fuel type. It had full leather in cream which looked rather nice, so the usual spec clue was absent

On a car park in Hanley, what are the chances?

This one is taken much closer in, where it is rather dark, but it shows the blue pipe under the EGR cooler I can see that as our cars get older, this pipe will be causing an increasing number of problems for owners. HTH

I have always felt my 2.0 was lacking a bit of Italian oomph, now I have found the reason why. While changing the EGR cooler which was leaking (and a common problem it seems) I found a blue silicon pipe that was looking old, tired and possible split. In removing it the pipe crumbled into three parts, it was indeed past its best. It seems this pipe is a vacuum pipe and goes to some sensor/valve type thing (maybe VNT valve) and it replacement has resulted in restoring many lost stallions and a 4mpg improvement. Driveability has improved with turbo lag reduced and application of the brakes as smoother and does not grab when braking lightly, I guess it was affecting the servo somehow. Tricky little thing to get at though as it is barely visible and not sure on the best way the reach it without removing the EGR cooler which is a PITA, guess there is a way though. Anyway, two pics, first is general area, look for a metal pipe and union at approx 45 degrees in the centre of the pic, and behind that is the blue silicone pipe, although the old one had gone milky blue/white with age.

I've done a bit of research on KYB springs and there are several spring types. Firstly, nothing mentioned for Lancia Delta of our vintage, so over to the Bravo section, and there are two types of rear spring (sport and regular) and five fronts (sport regular plus varying engine weights to support) 1.4 base Front RH3906 Rear RH6389 1.4 T-Jet RH3907 RH6389 1.4 T-Jet Sport RH3910 RH6437 1.6 Diesel RH3908 RH6389 2.0 Diesel RH3909 RH6437 Dampers are more straightforward and are in the Lancia section Rears all models 343826 Fronts 2.0 (1.9 twin turbo and 1750TB) 339786 all 1.4 petrols and 1.6 diesels 339785 Spring prices on ebay start at £15 for the rears and £25 for the fronts HTH

The FCA part no or one from KYB?
-
Hi James. the wider one is from a 1.9/2.0 car (and 1750TB abroad) the 1.6 and 1.4 turbo use the narrower strut. Not many 1.9/2.0 versions of either car over here.
-
looks a nightmare, something has to go in first though, just a pity it is not more reliable
-
looks like this is the culprit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1r5k6Ao_Sk I guess as my car is older and over 100,000 miles I may be the first of many! £275 if Alfaworkshop do it (so common they have it on their menu) or £30 for the same genuine Vauxhall part from Lookers on ebay and I skin my own knuckles.

one more I forgot, why on earth is the switch for the rear wiper three times that of the intermittent switch? The first rule of Italian motoring is 'what is behind me is no longer important' !
-
Looks like it still a heat excganger of some sort, just bigger, more complicated and with lots of little pipes and seals. Joy!

Tracking down the coolant leak, which is the most pressing issue is proving difficult as I can't see where it is coming from. Initially I thought it was coming from the thermostat pipe, but I think it is getting sprayed on from somewhere else. There is a black plastic shroud at the front right of the engine, that appears to be the main suspect but of course it is what is behind there that is the real issue. On the 1.9 it was the heat exchanger, any ideas on the 2.0 gents?
