Ah good to hear and welcome to the exclusive and rare Delta club! Which side of Manc are you from? I've not seen another Delta for ages!
-
Mines in for a Cambelt, pulley and pump with a full service next month so I'll take a look beforehand and get it checked.
-
Yeah I know what you mean, but I do think it depends on the car too. Some actually look ok, others like you say a little low. The compromise is a fully adjustable set, but they tend to be expensive and I've never found a set that isn't too harsh to live with day in day out... The best mix I've tried tends to Koni DSG shocks and Eibach pro springs from that respect.
-
Yes of course lowering aftermarket springs would be classed as a modification.... However providing you tell your insurance it very rarely makes any difference to policy price. From previous experience something like Eibach pro or sport usually make the car handle much better both on turn in and control over uneven surfaces. I think if it was a classic or rare car I'd probably like you go down the like for like route, but for these Delta's if one of mine snaps it will be aftermarket.
-
Whereabouts is that located? Back right of the engine?
-
Haven't we had this conversation about springs before? It was cheaper to buy a set of aftermarket lowering springs wasn't it?
-
I've not seen any problems reported on the Twinair yet to be honest, and as mentioned the 1.2 can be painfully slow with very little acceleration which can be frustrating and dangerous at times. I know what you mean about the 2 cylinder thrum, but I don't think it's that bad at all. You're just at that age where everything is annoying!!
-
Nothing per-say... They just don't have any power or torque whatsoever, and you really notice it if you have passengers or a full load uphill. The 875cc Twinair really shows it and is by far the better engine and much better suited to the Ypsilon.
-
Ha-ha my Brummy Spaz likes them too! The only thing is the only one worth having is the twin-air. The 1.2 is woeful and the diesel 1.3 is troublesome. The bright side is that they are mega cheap now, so that might be a blessing in disguise lol!!! Take her out in one for a test drive quick!
-
To be honest a mk3 SW is selling for as much now as it was in late 2012! They seem to be rising in price especially in TI spec with low miles!
-
Yeah my last ti SW was a Mk3 aka black dash, half leather/half Alcantara with red piping extendable Recaro style seats, and darkened 19''ti alloys with matching brushed aluminum mirror covers. Looked mean for a daddy wagon! Yeah the ''Thelma'' as we used to call them wasn't exactly cough pretty cough!
-
Sorry fella I was obviously having a blonde moment doh!! I'll try again...
-
Ha-ha yeah they're a bit marmite like the Delta, so maybe I just like weird looking cars now! The rear end isn't the prettiest, and they definitely look better in dark metallic's too! We'll see.... I deffo have Alfa withdrawal symptoms too!
-
Surely the 2 cylinder is known as just the Twinair?
-
Hmm had a quick look and the majority coming through the second hand market seem to be the Limited version, the occasional Longitude and a few sports. Where does Cross Plus and City Lounge sit in relation then??
-
Yeah I've only ever had TI's so know what you mean as the spec is really good and worth having over the Lusso.... No I was at auction a few weeks back looking at an Abarth for stock when right behind it was an 11 plate Jeep Compass which was the FCA's first meddle with them. It was a Limited spec with side bars, rear tints and spoiler, 18'' alloys, full heated leather, memory seats, Sat Nav and the Boston audio upgrade with a small sub in the boot wall. These Compass's have a 2.2 Merc diesel engine mated to a 6 speed manual pushing out about 160bhp, so whilst not the most refined engine ever, it still feels brisk enough for a family hack, plus 4 wheel drive and mid 40's to the gallon. Now they can be had for as little 6.5k for a fully loaded one if your lucky, so a lot of car for the money, which is what drew me too it... The reviews aren't great, but that's to be expected, so have since driven a few and think it's really good given all of the above...
-
Indeed... Although I am contemplating again whether to get something else or keep it, so not ready to commit to more expenditure just yet until I've made my mind up. It needs a service regardless, and the front tyres seem to have worn down quite quickly, so that will be another 140 spondoolies plus the service! Oh and I wanted those fitted blinds that go in all the windows beyond the 'B' post too. The trouble is I want another Alfa Sportwagon or dare I say it possibly a Jeep!

Delta 12 Plate: Rear Light Cluster Info....
MikeyRules replied to Penguin2007's question in Chrysler Delta
I would say so probably if you can diagnose a dry joint or failed circuit on the main PCB board. As stated though I trashed the lens to get it open because the silly design means it overlaps the edges and you can't prize it apart without it shattering. Although having said that I reckon now I know where the retaining points are I could possibly without damage next time. -

P.S sorry the pictures aren't any bigger but the forum is restricting size to 75kb!! -
Delta 12 Plate: Rear Light Cluster Info....
MikeyRules replied to Penguin2007's question in Chrysler Delta
Well for scientific purposes I ripped carefully opened my old rear light unit and here are my observations: The unit isn't a sealed unit at all, but because the outer clear lens overlaps the edges of the casing it makes it impossible to open as you can't get your plastic prise bar down the side without causing damage to the lens cover. As you can see from the picture you can clearly see the 3 rows of LED's. The indicator row is connected directly to the circuit board with the ribbon cable, and the two rows of side/brake lights are bridged together and then connected to the board. -
Not yet as the cheapest I've seen is around 90 euros posted to the UK which is a lot for a lump of plastic... I've got one on watch at the minute, along with a pair of headrests!
-
Ok will do... There's loads for sale every day through the dealer portals. Obviously the right spec and colour might take a little time....

Delta 12 Plate: Rear Light Cluster Info....
MikeyRules replied to Penguin2007's question in Chrysler Delta
You were right fella, they're deffo in Europe. Right well just to update... My new light cluster arrived while I was on holiday so I had only got around to fit it the other day. The new one has cured the fault, so obviously it was the old cluster, so in one way I'm glad it did the trick, but in another annoyed the old one has failed in under 5 years! So there must be some sort of circuit board inside that makes the unit flash for hazards and indicators that got a dry joint or similar failure? What was weird was the indicator still flashed once, and would flash the required amount of times for alarm arm and disarm. So in other words all LED'S still functioning, and power being provided. One of my neighbours is more patient than me is going to take the old one apart at some point to diagnose the issue, so I'll update if we get to the bottom of it. -
Ouch! That's an expensive product fault at your expense!! Fingers crossed the turbo's ok! If you're still looking for a 500x, I could probably save you at least a grand off retail price if not more as I get offered these all the time. Used of course, but they are always low miles, one owner in most spec's... Give us a shout if you're interested you can tell me what to look out for...
-
Much better! I keep meaning to sort out my headrests as apart from the start up screen that's the only thing I've left to sort!
