Yeah a few of the guys on the Coupe fb page have shared clips of their 5 pot n/a's and they sound awesome. An exhaust, remap and filter and you've got 220bhp! I'm still not discounting an N/A lol... I think it will be enough for a daily...
-
Right I've been out and measured and the drivers side is 23'' and the passenger is 18''. When they're in the parked position there should be a small gap between them.
-
Do you mean one wiper gets caught in the other at parked position? I wonder if they've been removed like Neil says and one put back on wrong?
-
You're probably right fella, but the inner child in me saw a mint coupe with leather, sunroof and le body kit with no mention of rust on the MOT's for 2.5k! My other logic was it's a 150bhp NA so probably won't have been thrashed as much, especially given these 5 pots can take serious power...
-
So you don't think the vis is a bargain then? Id rather spend 2.5k than 5 lol. Thought it looked well speccd and the mot history seemed pretty sweet as did the hpi report. I know it's not turbo'd but still a 5 pot, so it can't be all bad surely?
-
Made in the Czech republic with Continental being the parent company. Rumour has it they using continental patterns and tech a few years behind, but still good. Most owners seem to rate them, so I'll have a look next time given they're around £54 a corner fitted!!! Bargain if they are as good!

Yes lovely colour too, and really suits the Coupe. I always thing cars look expensive in grey, which is a good thing. I'm looking most days to be honest. I quite like this, although can't help not like buying from a dealer especially paying dealer mark-up too. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201705105298388?model=COUPE&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=sponsored&radius=1501&make=FIAT&postcode=sk42je&page=1 and this, although non turbo and green: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-W-FIAT-COUPE-2LTR-20V-VIS-VERY-LOW-MILES-77K-RECENT-CAM-BELT-RARE/223007942021?hash=item33ec4f2585:g:-CsAAOSwyupa2fcI

It can't as it'll be part of the car unless he cuts it out. You wouldn't do that as you'd be stuffed for fitting anything else. Whereas the scrappies should cut the loom out, then that way you could make a patch cable to plug into your existing loom, if that makes sense?

Yeah Cooper Tyres Co owned Avon for a while and now it's some American business group allegedly. I'm on my second set of Avon's on the Delta and they've been fine, with no noticeable difference at all between these and the Goodyear's. The Delta's just a C segment family hack, with no real performance, so for me they do the job amicably. I hate paying more that £70 a corner, so always shop around... Khumo (owned by Cooper) are the other great budget brand as are Firestone, owned by Bridgestone. They're all in bed together, so you have to play the game lol.

Wowsers! That is mad!! No disrespect but its a breathed on Fiat 500, so that is totally ridiculous for what amounts to a bit of stitching saying the word Abarth instead of Fiat lol Anyone would think its a bespoke floor pan and nothing else fiat 500 related would fit.
-
Everyone's got horror stories Alan. Which is why I said above ''Obviously tyres is an endless subject and everyone will have their own opinion'' Avon have been around for a long time with a proven track record in the tyre industry, and I've used them on and off for decades, literally! Just ask any decent tyre fitter about the different brands and they'll tell you how much BS is in the industry and across the brands. In the 80's I used to rally a Vauxhall Nova on remoulds at £25 a corner and they could take anything I could throw at them. Now I know things have moved on a little, but the market now has to cater for the 'where there's a claim, there's blame' brigade and millennium morons that dry steer because they can't drive properly as they learnt on their play station!
-
Yeah I've never understood that either. It's when you see a set of mats for £70 you know they're pretty much double what they should be.
-
Cheers for the info fella, much appreciated. I'd found out what VIS stood for, just wasn't sure what the spec was like compared to the 20v. Yeah keep your eyes peeled, as they're deffo on my wish list, although finding a well looked after car without it having been thrashed, modified and abused might be a tall order!
-
I think you might be right. I've had mine in the car for about 3 years now, but am pretty sure it was around £450 - £500. To be honest they're pretty poo, and only fit the Delta, so you might struggle to get a sale let alone anything like what you paid for it.
-
Neil one for you... What's the difference between the 20v VT and the VIS version on the Coupe?
-
Yep agree on both counts...

Hi Josh and welcome to Delta ownership and rare car status in most countries! You're quite lucky as in the UK we didn't get the higher spec cars with dual sunroofs or in fact the 1750tbi engine. We only had a choice of the 1.4 multi-air petrol or 1.6/2.0 diesels. The 1750tbi was however available here in Alfa Romeo, and I had one on a 159 Sportwagon back in 2012. The main thing to watch with that engine is oil quality. Also ignore the recommended service intervals and do an oil and filter change a lot more often, circa 9k miles/12 months. Also when doing your regular fluid level checks, have a sniff at the end of the dipstick. Mine ate 2 turbo's in quick succession before the problem was identified as a couple of leaking injectors diluting the oil with petrol - in the latter stages, the contamination got to 8% petrol after only 6 weeks and 2k miles since the previous oil change. Since then it has become apparent that whilst not affecting every 1750 engine, mine was not exactly an isolated case either. I know you said the cambelt has been done, but check that the water pump was changed also, because if not and it seizes it can throw the belt and trash the engine. For gear shifter knobs try Italian eBay... Tyres I use Avon ZV7's at the moment and have just replaced all 4. Here in the UK they were the cheapest mid-range tyre I could find with low noise and good wet grip. I'm on my second set and they've been good value at around £70 a corner. Obviously tyres is an endless subject and everyone will have their own opinion. The car was supplied with Goodyear Eagle F1's and to be honest the Avon's are just as good, but probably won't last as long. Mods... Massive subject, but I'd start with handling too. What wheel size are you running 17'' or 18''? As this will make a difference when you start to lower and stiffen up the suspension. For throttle response have a look at a 'Pedal Box' from companies like DTUK. They're plug 'n' play, and seem to work well. As for exhausts I've not looked at on the shelf systems, so haven't a clue what's available if anything. I've always had systems made on the car in stainless steel, so that maybe the way to go...Lastly most intake systems I've used/seen don't make any gains, just make more induction roar. So my advice would be stick to the standard airbox and just replace the filter with something like a K&N. There's no dedicated area for photo's, just create you own build thread and get posting... We're a bit of the adopted kid syndrome here, as the car clearly isn't a Chrysler, but we have made this little place our home, and seem to get left alone to talk Italian!
-
It's a funny thing when you think how cheap some of these cars have been in the past, yet now most of them are starting to become out of reach. Wish I'd had some spare cash and built a toy collection... Lancia Beta Monte, Alfasud Sprint, S2 or S4 Spider, Integrale Martini... the list is endless.
-
Yeah I totally agree, and even more so compared to a Sud Sprint!! (Man I'd LOVE one of those!!!!!!!) and it was just a moment of madness before I came to my senses! I hate auto anything to be honest, even though cars like the new Giulia seemed to have nailed it, they're just not for me. Older autos were mainly shockingly slow with terrible fuel consumption so deffo a no-no for thread purposes please.
-
Oh my... Shame it's not in budget! https://www.oldmotorco.co.uk/copy-of-lotus-esprit-turbo-pearl-wh-1
-
I think that sums up his driving perfectly Alan! He' either tootling around stuck in traffic, or wringing its neck on any straight piece of tarmac he can find! It's like sheet off a shovel!
-
Yes my thoughts exactly The words Retro and Auto should not be in the same sentence lol... I don't think the boots that bad. Yes it's very narrow, but you can get a couple of squashy hand luggage type bags in there, and there's always the back seat for anything else. I know Alfa's, so feel a little more comfortable buying one, not that they're ANY less trouble!!! I think I'd be happy with a sorted one of either (Coupe or GTV) if not both as they'd be great keepers! I was tempted by an Alfa 33 yesterday. It sold for just £650! Not the prettiest Alfa admitted, but it was pretty solid with a decent MOT and had the little 1.5 boxer engine that I had in my first ever Alfasud. Just love that boxer sound!
-
Yep I would say so far a decent standard non modified Coupe is in the running if I can get one that's been loved, the GTV also, although would be happy with a rev happy 2.0 twinnie too, so not just the busso. I've always admired the Barchetta since my mate had one in the early 2000's. I love the lines and the small attention to detail like the door handles and rear lights... Not sure I want lhd though in this country, and a two seater is probably further down the pecking list too.
-
Erm... Not sure what to say lol. Maybe they give us the grand to take it away ?

This looks nice at first glance? Anything obvious from the Ad, and is it worth a look? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-Fiat-Coupe-2-0-20v-Turbo-only-79-000-miles/163078090222?hash=item25f8362dee:g:zrsAAOSwkLJa~y31 Quite like this too! https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C966759
