I'm surprised at how timeless the Delta 3 shape and design is. it's mid-2019, this design has been around fr a decade and it still looks beautiful next to the latest Italian and German family cars. Numerous times i've parked next to the 2018 Seat Ibiza and am impressed by how 'modern' the Delta looks. Fiat could very easily bring it back with the exact same external design but with a more updated digital gauge cluster and infotainment system.

Hey Dido, nice looking car! So is your roof a front sunroof and rear panoramic? That's what I've got on mine and the view is amazing. Can you link me please to the C-pillar emblems? Mine have faded completely and need replacing. Enjoy!

Is it just me, or does the Delta design not really suit external mods? Other than lowering to fill the wheel arches and getting some window tints, I can't see anything externally that should be done to it. The Delta 3 is a car of beauty and style, not roughness and agressiveness like the integrale body was. Your thoughts?

Thanks for the recommendation ForzaLancia, I'll check them out. Once again, Nello to the rescue!

Where did you get the C-Pillar logos and how easy was it to replace? Mine have faded and look gross

Hey guys, Took my dirty little Italian in for service this week to discover that the engine is leaking oil onto the spark plugs. My mechanic did some shopping around and the cheapest gasket he could find here is just shy of 150 GBP. I know this is stupidly expensive, so I got online looking for a cheaper option. A few things I want to confirm with you guys: a) I think the part i need is part no. 55215302. It shows up everywhere as the Giullietta gasket. Is this correct? Through alfaworkshop.co.uk i can get the part for 29.50 GBP with delivery. Does this sound like a fair price or still a bit high? c) Has anyone got any experience with alfaworkshop.co.uk? What are they like? Thanks a bunch!

Beautiful colour! Well done on the find and enjoy your new Italian girlfriend. She looks super clean and well cared for. Enjoy!

Is this stupid expensive and not worth it, or are all Abarth's like this? Just looked at my local online classifieds and found the 2 cheapest Abarth 500's. 2011: Currently on 5th owner, 120,000 kms, automatic, cabriolet, asking 11,500 quid 2012: Currently on 6th owner, 105,000 kms, automatic, cabriolet, asking 11,500 quid would love to experience one, i just get the impression that it's too tall and top heavy.

Haha!!! that's the best way to describe driver feedback that i've ever heard!
-
Andrew, what's the driving experience like in those early models? Is the difference between that and the modern Delta as disconnected as, for example, an original mini cooper compared to the modern BMW Mini?
-
I've never driven nor been up close to the original Delta, so can't say anything about it. I look at what the series 3 Delta was competing with at the time - BMW 1 series, Audi A3/S3 etc. But it can really hold itself, IMO, against the GTi and the Scirocca. I'd love to have a chance to pitch it against an MX-5 for straight line speed.

I was on my way back home yesterday and was blessed with a long stretch of open road. I was first at the lights and had some Linkin Park pumping through the speakers. Naturally my hand slid straight to the Sport button, brought the revs to 2500 (just below where the turbo kicks in) and held the brake until the lights changed. (Yes, car is an auto). Can I just tell you all that the 1.8L DiTurbo can seriously accelerate! I checked through Google Maps at the rough distance I traveled over those very short seconds. Turns out that I covered just shy of 1.2Km and reached a speed of 180km/h (slightly less than 112mph for those not using the metric system.) I know, it's no drag race record, but for a 5 seater family car, that's decent speed. It was an amazing rush. I knew the car was capable of this, but it was the first time I'd had the chance to push to that speed. Had I not needed to turn off I might have been able to nudge to 200km/h mark. And so I ask the question.. Is the 1.8L DiTurbo Delta really not classified as a performance car or atleast a GTi/S3 killing 'hot hatch'?
-
My Delta is the first turbo performance vehicle I've owned. And I'm really building a love with the car (wifey is getting a bit jealous ) I know it's not designed as a sports vehicle, but i'd still like to have a go at some improvements. I'm not looking to replicate supercar 0-60 times and certainly not going to be pounding around a track on weekends (Israel's choices of tracks are minimal and stupidly expensive too!), just looking for some extra fun on the roads with some more noise.

Been doing some research and spoken with a local company that does ECU tunes on the dyno. His recommendation for the exhaust system was to start with downpipes and slowly work back. I'm new to the world of modding, but understand all the technical jargon. Does downpipes sound like a good place to start or something else that should be looked at first?

Ye we have the Bravo here in Israel. By the back box do you mean the muffler or the catalytic converter? Isn't a 'sports silencer' a bit of an oxymoron... I want my car sportier and louder

Hey guys, my '11 Delta is now in it's ready state for the first mod to be considered. These last few days I've had some time to enjoy the back roads and push the rev counter a bit. I've come to the conclusion that current power and torque levels are fine, turbo lag could be improved (kicks in around 2700-2800) and suspension + body roll doesn't bother me too much. What i think I want to invest in is a new exhaust kit, Full system front to back with a bit more rumble and noise. Does anyone know of any UK or mainland EU companies that have anything available for our beautiful Italian girlfriends? I have considered a custom stainless steel exhaust, but the regulations here in Israel greatly frown upon that. A pre-fab kit that can simply be bolted on would certainly be less of a headache. Has anyone here done aftermarket exhausts? Is there much of a market available? Are there bits and pieces that can be borrowed from other Fiat/Alfa models? Looking forward to your thoughts and comments

Man I am sticking with this car! Beautiful Delta has her fair share of dings and dents, also an ugly key scratch ( ) down her passenger side, but I love her. Already making plans to give her a good quality polish and wax and then see if i can afford a clear wrap. Right now the only thing I'd replace Delta for is a proper sportswagon, but don't have the bank for that and doesn't look like those vehicles will be having good quality depreciation in the coming 2-3 years. Fun Fact: Back in 2011, when my Delta was brand new and sparkling in the Israeli showroom, her spec cost the equivalent of 57,300 GBP. When I bought her less than 2 months ago she cost me 8,280 GBP. That is some very profitable depreciation on my behalf

In my defense i can say that I had the previous owner travel over 100kms to bring the car to my trusted mechanic. Mechanic checked the car and told me that front discs need replacing so I was ready for that. But taking into consideration the 2+3 cylinders, leaking air conditioner (still isn't fixed 100%) and the turbo pressure issue, I'm certain that previous driver loved thrashing the car (probably reaching speeds in excess of 200kph) and never let the turbo idle after running it or letting the engine warm up properly when starting. Annoying, but I still love my Delta
-
Thanks Mikey, cylinders 2&3 have some knock in them. i'm in the process of sorting that out as well as replacing front discs and some other minor repair work... is it normal for a delta to need work done to it roughly every 3 weeks?!?!
-
I went into the local service centre yesterday for them to look at the ESP, Steering column and Hill holder warning messages.. In connecting the vehicle to the computer they found issues with cylinder 2 + 3 and also low bottom pressure in the turbo. The words of the service manager were "Keep an eye on your performance, if the car starts to act sluggish then it'll need repairing" Through a Facebook group I've connected with an Italian guy that works in an Alfa/Fiat/Lancia service centre. He tells me that he heard of someone replacing the Delta turbo with a Giulietta unit. Anyone ever heard of something like this? Has anyone had turbo issues previously? I have a feeling the previous owner used to thrash the car and didn't idle the car for a few minutes before shutting down the engine. Previous owner said turbo was removed, repaired and reinstalled at around 90,000 kms (currently vehicle is at 112,000 kms). Help..

Haven't had time to dedicate to it unfortunately. I'm planning on doing it together with my mechanic just to be safe. I'll take some pics along the way and post when it's complete.

A few weeks have gone past and finally the new gear knob i ordered from Poland has arrived. Two problems: 1) The black central section of the gear knob has not been installed correctly and sits on an angle. I attempted to fix this by pushing the corner back into place but no success. Thought about completely removing the black section and trying to install it correctly myself, but possibly breaking it and then having to buy another one (124 GBP!) plus wait an additional 3 weeks for delivery held me back. I'm thinking that once it's installed it won't be such an issue, what do you guys think? 2) The nice guy who owned the car before me didn't want to spend the money needed to replace the gear knob, so he decided that a whole lot of epoxy would simply do the trick.. (it didn't). Now I'm stuck with trying to remove epoxy in order to install the new knob.. any one got any ideas? This is the rubbish that needs removing.

Thanks for the link Mikey. I contacted my local Fiat/Alfa dealership inquiring about the door handle. They wanted 107 GBP for it!! Insane!

The worst possible thing happened to me today!! At work we have some good quality super glue, so I told myself that I'd wait until I got to work to glue this piece back in place on the rear passenger handle.. Then I get to work and see that it's GONE An entire week it stayed in place and the one day I decided to fix it is the day it falls off... Lesson to be learnt: 1) Don't delay repair work! 2) If a part is loose, remove it and hold on to it until you can repair it How much is a cheap look a like?

I finally found the right brembo code that i need for front and rear discs, contacted the local importer only to be told that there is no stock in Israel and none expected to arrive. Basically, the Delta uses a front ventilated disc that only really suits a Delta and no-one wants to spend the money on importing an aftermarket brand. But then I was speaking with a guy who works at an Italian Alfa/Fiat/Lancia dealership who said that eper and the official brembo site have matching product codes for the front and rear discs, so he thinks the OEM discs may be brembo.. any one know anything else about this?
