I have a Chrysler 300c 2012 rhd needing help with TPMS receiver
AngelsEnvy replied to mudd2david's question in Chrysler 300c
I was under the impression that as long as you have the correct mhz rated tpms for the receiver then it was simply a case of driving at a steady speed around the block until the on board receiver picks up the tpms receiver! Mine are 144mhz I’ve had to change two of them due to a very daft tyre fitter who threw them away and replaced them with non tpms valves but when the tyre company stumped up for new tpms units they worked immediately. The second time I had to replace three tpms units as some joker thought it was funny to super glue the caps on. But even those new replacements linked to the receiver within half a mile of fitting with no issues. Yours were the correct mhz I assume! -
Told you it would be the plugs. Where did you get the glow plugs done ? All the mechanics near me don’t want anything to do with them! I’m prepared to travel. How many were faulty? As for the squeak could be any number of things, don’t know of any specific causes but if you have replaced all the rear end bushes with new rubber you would think you’d not be getting any squeaks. If however you replaced with silicone bushes any number of squeaks are probable. Glad you got the plugs done, wish I could get mine sorted.

Tell me about it, bought the first Hemi as soon as they came on sale, my wife looked at me as if I were mad and I looked back at her as if I was, but you know, within a couple of months she wanted the 300c I kept the Hemi from 2006 to just a few months ago and it was used as a daily driver throughout all those years with never a missed beat, yes trim broke, yes I was constantly replacing rotors and bushes but each time I did they got replaced with quality aftermarket parts made of silicone etc and never a problem afterwards. The 300c LX is nearly 19 years old and MyGig still working most of the time, satnav same, switches all good as are lecky windows, still returns 36mpg regularly around the country lanes and sometimes 40mpg on a motorway if you drive like a very old man but it still looks pretty good and is only just beginning to feel a little sloppy at high speeds. Can’t find anything out there I would swap it for and I have spent a lot of time looking, certainly not an EV, did buy a Lincoln Navigator but the 4x4 running gear was utter rubbish. No I’ll be keeping the old girl and very likely get buried in her Take care my man.

Well as you know I’ve been at these things for many a year, I regret, deeply, getting rid of the 300M though on a mile for mile cost level it never ever cost me as much as this 300C but they get under your skin and you just can’t let them go, well I can’t and this 300c was the meme sahib’s so I’m seriously attached. Those pesky glow plugs ain’t cheap and they are the nasty thin ones so if they snap they are an absolute nightmare to try and get out in situ. Other than that I still like them despite all their flaws but then tell me a motor that hasn’t got flaws! Happy driving brother.

Hiya ECT made no difference at all. Spent a little time and took the Glow Plug Module off and tried it on another vehicle! No issues with it on the other vehicle so could discount that as a possible fault. Moved on to glow plugs and it appeared, from the read out on the scanner, that one or two of the glow plugs were breaking down. Spent weeks soaking, heating, the two offending plugs but they refused to budge, easily! I don't have the facilities to remove the heads and do the work if the were to break and none of my engineering contacts were interested in attempting the removal so they have stayed where they are. They should be changed every 40,000 miles but even the dealerships didn't like messing with them because of the possibility of snapping them at the base. Solution ! Well in my case I only get the starting issue during cold weather so I use a heat gun on the two offending Glow Plugs and it starts each and every time and I only ever get the problem on the first start of the day. Never had any coded or warning lights come up and the car runs perfectly and flawlessly at all other times. Sorry I can't offer a better solution but if you figure it out or find someone who is able to get the offending plugs out then please get back to me and let me know. Good luck.

No supplier seems to have anything newer than a 2012 disc ! I assume it's because that was the last of the 300C years with an REJ head unit. I did think about trying a newer Jeep disc but was advised against it. Of course now they don't even have a disc as they come via a USB install. Cant do that on the REJ system so now use WAZE on the phone.

Let me know how it goes. As I said, without access to the old fashioned ramp with shaker plates I would never have tracked the issue down. The faulty one was on the passenger side and when under pressure, on a standard hoist, everything was tight so the pry bar was useless as all bushes appeared good with no movement. These new lifts may save space but they don't meet all of the needs and so stuff slips through the net. I had stripped the entire front suspension out and replaced everything that looked iffy and as I told you had drilled, taped and die'd, fitted grease nipples replaced rubber for poly and still that knock persisted. Now had three years or so with no knocks of any kind. I have to offer a word of caution regarding fitting 22 inch rims, you may introduce further knock problems! Not confident that the off the shelf parts fitted to the car are up to the extra weight involved ! Be lucky..

Yep, been using them both for and off for about 10yrs, don't have everything and occasionally a little on the pricey side but agree they are worth using.

No worries, I'll go onto the bay and order same as your picture. Once again thanks for your efforts and hopefully the heavier duty drop links will sort the knock for you. As I said, I upped the anti-roll bar to a 33mm and used poly bushes but that has no effect on the knock, just handles way tighter and combined with the rear mods, tyres and suspension, its way less tail happy under heavy acceleration and damp conditions. Be lucky and catch you out on the open road one day ! Steel Blue Pearl with mesh grill.

Very nice too and kept well. Just had a reply from GSF offering this one as the unit that fits? Was yours a thread or a push on? Hope you can see the picture. Thanks again for the replies.

Mine's a Lux. I bought it for the wife who had a back issue and couldn't get in and out of a Range Rover, too high, and liked the S-Class ease of entry but not the vehicle. Took her to see the 300c and after a test drive she loved it so bought one for her. It had all the nonsense on it as standard, 20 inch rims and the MyMusic HDD and every other extra it could possibly have. The bonus was GM were in dire straits financially and so I gave almost nothing for it. Lost the missus a couple of years ago but can't bring myself to sell it or let it go. Only got 69000 miles from new and as I said I've done all the servicing since the warranty ceased. Build quality may be rubbish, parts less than adequate but a charm you can't deny and for motorway use there aint many to beat it.

Thanks for that. I'll give them a ring in the morning and have asked a couple of sellers on e-Bay to confirm that the ones they are selling will fit mine. if I get a yes I'll buy a couple..

I have to assume your motor is a good few years newer than mine as they don't carry any parts for mine. I've dropped them an email and await a response. Mine is a 2006/7 model for reference. All the ECT's that came up were for 2010 or above. But thanks for trying..

Fantastic my man I'll get onto the sites now and get a couple ordered. Worth having a spare and if not needed I'm always able to help out a local. Ah, bit of a problem, they no longer carry them!

Listen, if you don't drive a Rangie here you are considered both poor and to have no taste at all.
