Burning Smell, High Rpm, Very Slow Movement Forward.
peterdemski replied to peterdemski's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Thank you for the reply. I will add a trans filter/fluid to my backlog. Also haven't had this happen again. I have read somewhere this could be caused by one of the connectors to the gearbox being loose but that seems unlikely since it hasn't happened again. -

Just a quick but very late update. This hasn't happened again and I haven't been able to see this first hand. While my wife has a much better nose than I do I didn't get a better description than burning. Gearbox fluid has been checked and was at the proper level. I appreciate the replies. As for the engine codes I believe I found the cause of P1130 which is a faulty pressure relief valve which I hope is also causing the harder starting at times. Based on the amount of fuel coming out of the overflow for the injectors I may have a faulty injector as well but will have to do further testing when I have more time. -

And just got a call from the wife that the vehicle is running normally again. I'm guessing I'm in for another go at some point so I will try and rectify the fault codes and if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it to try and track down the cause before we get stranded somewhere. -
Vehicle: 2005 Voyager 2.8 CRD I got a call that on a short trip my wife noticed a burning smell right before she stopped. Thinking it was another vehicle she went inside did her shopping and came out. On the way home there was a burning smell and the van would go very slowly at 3K rpm's. I assume the transmission was in limp mode and only in first gear. Something like this happened to her one before when the alternator pulley came apart however once the alternator was replaced it did not continue so I had assumed it may have been related. No warning lights on the dash. The fault codes are a P1130 and P0113 however I'm not sure if they are current. I haven't pulled codes before as no CEL was lit. The P0113 fault code appears to be a high input voltage to the ECM from the intake air temp sensor. The P1130 appears to be a fuel rail pressure sensor fault. I will of course rectify this however would this cause the behaviour noted above? The engine appears to be running smoothly and my wife was driving around 3K on the tach. My first instinct is to call it a transmission and or torque converter issue due to the lack of check engine lights and slow movement however as stated above when the alternator went and the serpentine belt was out a similar issue was noted and when corrected went away. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Leaking Intake Elbow
peterdemski replied to peterdemski's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Yes where I am from it would normally be referred to as the intake Y-Pipe but I'm not sure what the actual name is. -
Leaking Intake Elbow
peterdemski replied to peterdemski's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
@@mikebh8 that is the gasket between the intake manifold and the cylinder heads. I am looking for the gasket between the intake manifold and the elbow. I will see if I can find a picture to attach. -
with the recent replacement of the alternator and belt tensioner I became aware that the elbow connected to the intake manifold is leaking air. I've had a very hard time finding this gasket. Does anyone now where I can locate this part?

In Need Of An Alternator Or Alternator Pulley
peterdemski replied to peterdemski's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Just wanted to post a followup on this. I had replaced the alternator which was surprisingly easy to reach compared to most of the other components. Upon putting everything back together I noticed the belt tensioner was still wobbly at low RPM's so I replaced the alternator tensioner as well. I had to drop the motor off the motor mount to get the tensioner out due to clearance. All seems well and the new tensioner was noticeably stiffer than the old one. -
In Need Of An Alternator Or Alternator Pulley
peterdemski replied to peterdemski's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
I was able to source an alternator about a 90minute drive away which I am expecting to pickup tomorrow. I appreciate all the quick replies and information. It sounds like this is likely a common problem for these vehicles. -

In Need Of An Alternator Or Alternator Pulley
peterdemski posted a question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
I had noticed some noise at idle recently which went away when the RPM's went above idle. I had also noted the belt tensioner bobbing a little bit at idle which I assumed was the spring in the tensioner starting to go. I had ordered a new belt and tensioner however I got a call from my wife that the van started shuddering then all the lights came on and it wouldn't accelerate very much. Apparently this was the alternator pulley coming apart and the belt coming off. Does anyone happen to have a working alternator they would sell? Eurocarparts wants £300 for a new one which I would like to avoid. Also is this something anyone has seen before? I was going to look at replacing just the pulley however with the metal shavings I thought it would be best to replace the entire alternator. -
I purchased this vehicle at auction about a year ago and other than a battery and CV Boot it has continued along very well for the most part. This is my first Diesel vehicle so I am out of my comfort zone with regular maintenance for the engine other than changing the oil/filter. I am also new to the Milton Keynes area and am not familiar with where to find parts for my vehicle. I'm hoping that someone here on the board can help me with a list of maintenance that would be performed on the vehicle when purchased used. My current list of things to resolve on the vehicle: 1. missing engine cover 2. rear passenger tail light cracked 3. passenger heated seat switch 4. rear washer switch 5. backup sensor dodgy 6. replaced A/C condenser I'm also hoping someone here can point me to where to find used parts for the vehicle as most of the items on my list would be replacement parts.
