Not an nice job to do on the Drive but not impossible I recomend this tool is the best others might be not long enough measure your tie rod b4 you buy a right tool. http://www.huzar.biz/produkty/narzedzia-do-zawieszenia/ 1. Lift one side 2. Undo the tie rod end from the hub 3. Unscrew the old tie rod end 4. Use your Tool and undo the tie rod 5. Put the new one in place screw it it. Not sure how strong but not much I guess that max 50n is the max but check 6. Put the boot back on and there might be small pipe that goes in to the boot put that back on (grees will be usable) 7. Put new clamps or re use old or just use long straps 8. Repeta on the other side If you Got the right spacer size you might get away from buying special tool but it helps a lot. Just take the wheel off, I lifted one side at the time. Bar and new bushes goes in easy. Good luck it's worth doing, makes massive difrence to drive and comfort.

Timing belt and water pump will be my next job on my car. I looked but could not find any topics related to that. Is there is one? Or do I need to suffer again ? Just like with the Thermostat?

Mine did not had that sensor. Anyway if your mechanic fited wrong thermostat he must take it out return it to his supplier, and ask for the right one. Sure he spotted that when it came from shop.

Sorry Mike I must missed that completely. The last job on my GV (thermo)killed my brain! I would take that car away from this mechanic. But if you will decide to leave it, make sure it has got proper Coplant in (not water) and is not leaking from the new thermostat. - you should be able to smell it, or observ coolant level. This thermo looks ok for that car. Same as mine. Good luck I hate and don't trust mechanics!!!!

I know that mate I'm asking the author to tell us what engine he had in his GV If it is at the back of the engi d under wipers , it is same as mine. But I had no sensors in the thermostat, just few pipes etc. Paid £35 for the thermo but normally they go for about £80 It is not s nice job to do.

Hi What model is you car ? Petrol or Diesel ? Last Saturday I have replaced my own thermostat on 2.8 CRD and there was no sensors in it. Looks like he bought the wrong one, went to Farr with the job, and decided to modify it. I had tried the trick with the thermo with Renault 5, but after 400 miles if shut it self and did not let my water thrue with and temp went on the red line. So I throw it away and both proper thermostat.

Yes, wiper scuttle was the 1st thing I took off in order to acces Thermostat. The only thing I broke was the bracket attached to the Thermostat and intake plastic pipe that was supporting fuel lines. It was inpossible for me to reach that 13mm nut got to live without it. I wish I will never have to do that ever again. Missing Gearbox bracket bolts Update : I found the fellow 40miles away that brakes one. So hopefully will put everything back together and the engine will stop rocking. In terms of the job that was carried by Re-enginering Transmition from Essex, it is still under waranty but I'm not going there (100miles) just to pu two bolts. Dont know what to do about them, I paid them £1600 for the job and this is unaceptable. Any recomendations in order how to get compensation from them? Thanks.

Ok, THERMOSTAT - what a horible job to do on that car!!!! HATE 10am-7pm on my own + service and 2 belts (btw for the power st. belt you need this tool LASER belt strecher) But it is done now tested, no leaks looks good, good TEMP etc. Anyway I find out why my engine is rocking when I turn it off or start. My gearbox dieed back in January in Belgium, and I had it repaired by the "Re-Engineered Transmissions" from Essex charged me £1600 And this is why - becouse they decided that ONE bolt on the box bracket will do the job!!! Had to stop puting things together and need to find two bolts tomorow to go there. Can any one help me and tell me the spec of them? Please... need car for monday!
