  1. I’m thinking of upgrading our Grand voyager 4th gen to a newer 5th gen one. Are there any common problems I should know about? Is the later gearbox as reliable as the older one for instance? Thanks in advance.
  2. My wife’s Voyager has a problem with the abs control module. I contacted Chrysler and they gave me the number 05093988AA for a replacement for the car. This doesn’t seem to correspond with any of the units available on everyones favourite auction site. They used the vin number to search and only the control module is available, not the pump. I did a search on the internet and found a Mopar website which has some part numbers for control units which had been superseded by the number given to me by the Chrysler parts department. These are: 04686704AA 05018250AA 0508175AA Unfortunately, it would seem that it is impossible to discover the number on the control unit which is currently fitted without removing it, can anyone confirm that this is the case or tell me what to do to see the number. Is it true that if I can find a control unit with the same number as the one currently fitted then the ecu will accept it without any problems but a control unit with a different number will not be accepted without some Re-programming of the ecu? Can any competent auto electrician do the Re-programming or only Chrysler?
  3. Did this topic ever reach a resolution? Only asking as my wife’s Voyager has a problem with the abs control module. I contacted Chrysler and they gave me the number 05093988AA for a replacement for the car. This doesn’t seem to correspond with any of the units available on everyones favourite auction site, could it be an updated part number for the original part? They used the vin number to search and only the control module is available, not the pump.
  4. Hi Guys, Thanks to you all for your help. Unfortunately, no matter how quickly or slowly I did the key thing it wouldn’t display a fault code so I took the car to my local friendly garage. The engine fault light was on when I arrived but when the mechanic connected his kit to the car and switched the ignition on the fault cleared and there was nothing in the fault history either! So, I’m non the wiser about what the fault was and, with luck, it won’t return. Once again, thanks very much for the help and advice. Paul
  5. I’m not sure what you mean by not going all the way to either end. I watched the video and did the same as in the video but still no fault code. I haven’t done this before as I used to have a tablet with torque pro on it but now I have an iPad and no torque pro, hence my attempt to get the code using the ignition key.
  6. Thanks for your reply Dave. I’m switching the key from the first position to when the ignition is on and back to the first position 3 times. Is this correct? Cheers, Paul
  7. Hi, the engine light has come on in our 2005 2.8 CRD Grand Voyager. I tried switching the ignition on and off quickly 3 times to see the fault code but nothing was displayed. The car drives fine apart from a little hesitation at times when asking for sharp acceleration from a standstill but it has done that for the best part of the 3 years we have owned it. Is there a trick to get the fault code displayed, or do some faults not show a code? We need to use the car as our daughter and grandchildren arrive this week for a two week holiday. As it’s currently driving fine is it safe to use?
  8. Found it on the Internet. Follow steps: 1. Ignition on 2. Press the reset menu button until the service interval is displayed 3. Repeatedly press the step button until the desired service interval is displayed 4.Press the C/T button until the display changes 5. Press the step button until YES appears ( I didn’t get this ) 6. Press the C/T button then switch the ignition off. The service interval should now be set to whatever you selected, I chose 10000 Kilometres which is roughly 6000 Miles but there were quite a few to choose from. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem as I had, and thanks once again to Semmysonic. Cheers, Paul
  9. Hi Semisonic, I tried to reset the distance to the next service but it appears to be fixed at 5000 kilometres. Can you please tell me how to alter the distance setting? Cheers, Paul
  10. Hi Semmysonic, Thanks for your reply. I didn’t know that you can set the distance to the next service, I’ll have a look at that later today. Cheers, Paul
  11. I know how to reset the service indicator, I was trying to find out why it was telling me to perform a service after only 4000miles
  12. Panic over, a responsible adult, aka my wife, has resolved the problem for me.
  13. It would appear that my password has been changed and I can’t change it to one of my choosing
  14. WARNING THIS REPLY WAS NOT MADE BY ME IT WOULD APPEAR THAT MY LOGIN HAS BEEN HACKED I ALREADY KNEW HOW TO RESET THE SERVICE INDICATOR, THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT COMES ON AFTER ONLY 4000 Miles
  15. Out of the 30 views no-one knows? Surely someone has a clue. Is there a sensor for when the oil filter is past it’s best or the viscosity of the oil has degenerated? What is the normal interval between services? I had the oil and filter changed today just to be safe as I have a 800 mile round trip this weekend. Come to think of it, the last time the perform service indicator came on was just before another long journey. Maybe the car is psychic!
  16. The Perform Service indicator has come on but the car was serviced around 4000 miles ago? Anyone any idea why? I had noticed in the past that services seemed to come around quite often but I hadn’t checked the mileage before.
  17. Hi Mike, no need to apologise, as far as I’m concerned it’s all relevant to me. One of the setups I’m looking at on eBay is this: EBay item number 292442461856 It seems to offer everything I need, what do you think? I found one of my old laptops in the attic, it’s been unused for years and uses Windows XP and I can’t remember if it has Bluetooth connectivity. However, that may be an option once I understand exactly what is required and how to get the Delphi software onto the laptop. Maybe I’ll have to download it to my up to date laptop, burn it onto a disk then load it onto the old laptop. I can’t remember how to share between two laptops but I can find that out if I try I’m sure.
  18. The one for my Jaguars cost me£99.00 and looks at all the codes being generated on the car and tells me what the fault is. Small and simple to use. I’m currently looking at laptop and scanners using Delphi and wow on eBay which will probably cost around £100 -£120 . I would need to buy an old laptop and load the Delphi software on that plus the Bluetooth scanner etc etc so that’s not worth the hassle. The main difference for me between the Icarsoft and the Delphi setup is that the Delphi would let me regenerate the dpf on the diesel Jaguar. I doubt if I would be downloading new mapping to the ecu! By the way, I don’t know what WOW stands for, Can anyone enlighten me please?
  19. Sorry, but the link just took me to viglink with an advert about shopping with Amazon?
  20. Seems awfully complicated, think I’ll see if Icarsoft have an i930 for Chrysler. I already have one for my car but they are manufacturer specific, in my case Jaguar/Land Rover. It’s very easy to use and is a stand alone unit.
  21. Do you have one of these, is it easy to use, does it work with your car which is the same year as my wife’s (2005)?
  22. Hi Mike, Can you please tell me how you connect your off the grid laptop to the obd2 port on the car, cable? Bluetooth? Also, I see there are free downloads of Delphi150e on the internet, are these the same as the software you bought for £50 - £60? Was yours on a disk or disks? Does the Delphi150e tell what the fault is or just give the fault code? Sorry for so many questions! Regards, Paul
  23. Well, the Voyager is fixed and back to its normal smooth running self. ABS fault was due to the front passenger side sensor, low fuel pressure was cured with a new filter and the gearbox solenoid fault was due to a broken wire. Hopefully, many more trouble free miles of motoring will follow! Thanks to everyone for their help and advice.
  24. The local garage has hooked the car up to their diagnostic machine and have advised that there is an abs sensor fault, a gearbox solenoid fault and a low fuel pressure fault which they think is probably just the filter needing to be replaced. They are going to investigate further while my wife and I are away on holiday and, hopefully, will have fixed it by the time we get back. Has anyone had a gearbox solenoid fault on their Voyager and was it an expensive repair? See there is a solenoid on eBay for about £57, is it inside the gearbox requiring a lot of labour to fit it or is it fairly simple to fit? I knew about the abs sensor fault and had already bought the sensor intending to fit it once the weather was a little warmer!
  25. I couldn’t get the app on my tablet to report the fault codes even when it was synced with the car so have taken it to my local garage for a responsible adult to have a look at it. Will give an update once it’s fixed. Thanks to everyone for the advice and offers of help. Regards, Paul
