  1. A change of fluid cured the noisy reverse gear and slight vibration through the column on my car. It's an easy job. Just get the car high enough, safely, and have a good size bowl ready. A washing up bowl from Wilco will do, and use ATF +4..... not cheap but worth it. I also noticed in the Chilton manual, they recommend silicone sealer for the sump gasket.
  2. No my car did it only while moving. My mistake was associating the whole deal with the fluid change. I spent all day on the car myself., it was a number of problems that occured all at the same time. Transmission was a litre short, garage's fault, but mine also for not checking the work they did. The left hand tyre was unbalanced. Getting these things fixed cured most of the vibration. The noise over bumps appears to be the top of the strur. Check your trans fluid, if it's not right it can cause vibration, even stationary if you keep it in drive.
  3. -Rock Auto...Filter £3....Oil sump Gasket £2. I took my GV for a trans fluid change. The garage found a broken Trans mounting. Quoted £130 from Lithuania for a new one, plus fitting. RockAuto £10. for the same mount. Dont get ripped off. Check RockAuto first. Delivery was 5 days from the US.
  4. I had the battery problem during that cold spell early this year. I got my battery changed at Kwik fit. They fitted the battery that they had listed, and my car has been fine ever since. I paid about the same price as the bosch you have found.
  5. Just had the Grand Voyager in for a transmission filter and fluid change. I have now noticed a vibration from the front end of the car, coming up through the steering column. It happens quite often on a journey, almost like there is a bad road surface. I don't know what the problem is, but it has only started since the fluid change. Any ideas?
  6. Temperature sensor is just behind the dipstick at the front of the engine.. Engine should get to 80 c after 20 mins. if it doesnt... see Andys utube vid about thermostat. If the car overheats, the fuel will cut down its supply. check the fans and fan relay on the front of the car. The sensor needs an OBD 111 reader.
  7. Hi Gordy Yes it is a 1975 convertible. I also have a 1959 De Ville Both tax and MOT free.
  8. Does anyone know what year Chrysler started fitting diesel particulate filters to the Voyager diesels? The MOT changes on the 20th May are going to get difficult with DPF s. My Cadillac Eldo becomes MOT free on that date. I think I might start using it for everyday driving. Big Brother is starting to get serious.
  9. Your code p1511 is throttle position sensor, if you are unsure of the job take the car to a decent garage.
  10. Hi Alex I had all the battery problems during the cold spell a few weeks ago. I bought a good battery, ie. recommended for the car. I will make sure the fluid is as you say. ATF + 4. I looked it up on Google.ANTI shudder was mentioned. very slight shudder is what I am experiencing in reverse. I wonder if it has the wrong fluid added in the past?
  11. Hi Mate thanks for the reply. I have booked the car in for a transmission oil and filter change. My garage suggested exactly what you say. I have recently had a new battery fitted......sometime in March. I dont have a check engine light, but that will be checked when it goes in for the fluid change. What causes the noise to start when the battery has been disconnected? It's not a loud noise but it is noticable. gears all function correctly.
  12. Just noticed a slight vibration from the front end and low moise when I select reverse gear. Transmission works exactly as it should. Neutral and forward gears are perfect. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  13. SPAWNtoHELL has got it right here. If the symptoms occur even in neutral,, as you say it did. the problem is not the transmission drive. If the problem occurs with the calipers removed, it's not brakes. The problem is low revs,.... engine related.
