Managed to sort the fault on the parking sensors (had 4 red dots lit on the rear panel all the time ) , after testing the ones on the car and a spare set with a muti meter for resistance i chose four that had the closest readings When installed i still had a fault so tested each one on the car by placing an object in front of a sensor one at a time, with the ignition on and engine not running select reverse- then switch off -start the engine turn on the radio -select reverse -the music paused for a few seconds and the lights on the rear panel quickly went from amber to red dots then stayed red again , moved on to the next one and repeated above procedure - then on to the next , when i came to the last one the red lights remained on and the radio did not silence so removed that sensor and replaced it with another with the closest reading and it worked as it should and reset the parking assist service signal that kept flashing up Hope this info helps others as it took me a long time to find answers to this problem Thanks Dave

Electric tailgatre and parking sensors not working
dave62pb posted a question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
My tailgate is not working. Its like the catch is not releasing. I changed the struts and the control module and it worked tried a few times it opened and closed from the fob came to use it the next day and it stopped working again. the parking sensors i tested all ok but still did not work so changed all for a second hand set. Did not work at first until i moved my caravan then they started to Work. Disconected the caravan and they worked tested a few times by reversing up to a object all working fine. Tried the next day they stopped working again. Do i have to have codes read and reset i have tried disconecting battery but that does not work -
The tailgate on my 2005 GV wont open from the fob, if i release the tailgate with the door catch then press the fob the tailgate will lift automatic Its as if the door catch is not releasing on the fob (it releases from the catch ok ) , i have replaced the struts and also replaced the control module with a second hand one although unsure of condition of used unit I have ordered another used control module that was working when removed so will give that one a try , if that does not work i am wondering if there is a break in the wiring Ay advise welcome Regards Dave

Crankshaft sensor Crankshaft sensor replacement.
dave62pb replied to RichardM's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
You can replace this sensor without disconnecting anything , i did mine on normal car ramps you can reach over abs unit disconnect the plug remove single screw and pull the old unit out I got a new replacement from ebay , its bit of a fiddly job just got to get yourself in the correct position Regards Dave -
My aux heater is now operating in the warm weather until engine reaches running temp , it only used to come on in the winter when the outside temp dropped I assume that there is a faulty sender unit , i have replaced the outside temp sensor that sits in middle of opening in the front bumper but that made no difference Any advise welcome Regards Dave

Timing Belt And Water Pump Change
dave62pb replied to Sentech's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
A bit late with reply as been very busy, Not sure If pump timing is critical as its just high pressure pump , but when I did my belt and water pump I had a few attempts to get the pump marks to line up , in the end I clamped the belt to cam pulleys with wooden clothes pegs removed the idler near pump so I could turn pump a tooth just past marker , and put idler back on, then when I set belt tension all lined up When I first stripped it all down I checked markings and pump was 1 tooth out but car ran fine I too struggled with water pump bolts but found it best to put the bolt in pipe bracket and pump first , line up and screw in part way before other 4 bolts TBH the whole job was a pig so many bolts difficult to get to -
My 2005 GV has developed this problem with parking sensors , 4 red lights display says parking assist service I took out the sensors from the bumper and tested them with multi meter all read between 5.6 and 5.7 with 200K setting on multi meter, all pins are clean as are the plugs , no sign of damage on wiring Tried disconnecting the battery with lights switched on and doors open for about 20 minuets - still the same , just wondering if it could be the control module , does anybody know the location ? Just wondering if it is located under the coolant tank , I did have problems with overheating so a lot of coolant used to get spewed around that area Regards Dave

The power steering rack has started loosing fluid out of the drivers side boot I fitted some new after market ones that are crap but if I am correct they should not fill with fluid anyway I am sure the seals have gone in the rack as it lost all the fluid overnight , it looks like the rack is a pain to do and I might have to remove the cross member to drop it out Not sure whether to buy a seal kit or used rack Any advise welcome Thanks Dave

Changing Power Steering Belt.
dave62pb replied to Madmax's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Not done many miles since fitting new PS belt and now got problems with pump/steering not sure if tight belt has made pump run hot or if its just coincidental that I am having trouble now The first time it happened I turned the steering side to side to purge the system of air , this worked for a few days but the problem came back I have read that the filter in the reservoir can block and starve the pump of oil, going to strip and investigate the problem -

Have you checked the fuel pump relay and fuse , sounds like something is shutting fuel supply off -
Wanted DVD player head as mine has stopped working 3 x lights flash from side to side , I have stripped it down but cannot sort it Its the 6 disc player with the 3 ports on right hand side
-
Just sorting mine now for the MOT so doing all the odd outstanding jobs , tried the folding mirrors and they work every time now but the mirror adjustment has stopped working on both sides The rear tailgate stopped working last year then started working again just before I took it off the road in January now its stopped again , must have a loose connection
-
A couple of other niggling things to sort out The folding mirrors don't always work and air con pump cuts in on its own ( have to pull the fuse in winter ) Air con works fine when switched on it when I switch off the pump cuts in on and off hope somebody can shed some light on the problem , I have changed relay but still the same

Rear Washers /panel Removal
dave62pb replied to dave62pb's question in Voyager 4th Generation (2001-2007)
Thanks , done what you said , found the joint had come apart , washer working now , a 10 min job that I have not got around to for a few years now -
I down loaded the Jeep manual will try find the link for you , its got all the information you need The plugs for cam locking pins are one on front of valve cover inline with oil filler cap (if you take the cap off and turn the engine by hand you will see the hole in the cam where the locking pin goes in ) The exhaust cam plug is to the right side of thermostat housing , you will also have to make or buy a holding tool for the cam sprockets while undoing securing bolts (don't rely on cam locking pins as they can break easy ) I only installed them after I undid the securing bolts I made holding tool out of 2 lengths of 25 mm angle iron bolted together at one end with bolts the other end the cam sprockets are just a taper fit and the bolts are tight
