Well I have tried the TCT in the Giulietta ... thought it was brilliant. I love that car but its too expensive for me at this time. The auto box in the Delta is sourced from Aisin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWTF-80_SC So it look like a good box to me. I spent 13 hours commuting last week to work I live 12 miles south of Aberdeen and I get fed up changing gear crawling forward 3 feet ... etc ... Since I started my new job the fuel economy on my Manual Doblo has gone from 56mpg down to 47 ... so I want an easy life and a more relaxed commute. They are difficult to find though looks like I lost out on one at a garage near Manchester but I may still get that one. I like a challenge !

Still searching for the Delta I'm looking for an automatic ... so the one I was interested in seem to have gone. I'm in Aberdeen so chances of a local one are slim. I dont mind travelling but I wont spend more the £7000 on one.

Hi Thanks for the info! I cant seem to find that part number on Witters website... not a big problem at the moment as I have to source the car first !

Is there a tow bar available for the Delta... I'm replacing my Doblo which is a simple workhorse... and get used a lot for hauling wood and taking general household rubbish to local recycling centre. I wouldnt want to mistreat a Delta like that so a trailer seems logical solution. I cant see any on e-bay and other sites so do they exist? Cheers Stuart

Quite Possibly The Funniest Delta Review Out There!
stuartmunn replied to MikeyRules's question in Chrysler Delta
I think the main reason The Chrysler Delta happened was that Fiat were planning to re-introduce Lancia back into UK. Then the recession happened and they cancelled the plans (after the tooling etc for RHD had been completed) So after the Chrysler merger then this was a chance to make use of the tooling and materials they had on hand. By this point the Delta was at end of life anyway so not much to lose. Its a sad thing that Lancia has died, but with the merger its clear FCA have too many brands. Lancia cant compete with Maserati as a luxury sporty brand so good bye. Fiat took over Alfa to stop Ford buying them simple as that. It seems now they have a credible plan to bring Alfa back to its roots and rightful place in the car world. RWD lightweight sporty cars. Jeep is the other "big global brand" for FCA and its selling in bucket loads. I prefer the Fiat 500X though to the Renegade, but I'd love to try them both. stuart. -
Alfa Giullieta 1980s version. Alfa 33, Alfa 155 Wide body, 159ti Sportwagon. GT 3.2V6 --- 11 Points on Licence ... Fiat Doblo !

Agree about Arnold Clark ... they have got a monopoly here I think. You want to go for the Delta Limited then ... its got a lovely interior. Personally I dont see the point in having Sat Nav fitted in a car... I can use my phone or we have a Tomtom that is good enough. When I get one I'll probably re-badge it to a Lancia... I have fond memories of my Montecarlo Spyder and an original Delta

Hi I'm also going to be buying a Delta probably wait until December for mine. I'm looking for an automatic which makes it more difficult for me! I've driven a couple already and I think its very nice car to drive. I've only tried the diesel, but I have driven a Giullietta with the 1.4 Multiair and its a cracking engine. I think £8300 is expensive... if you do an autotrader search you should be able to get one for less. In fact if you do a search on Arnold Clarks website you will see 3 Deltas at a lot less than the 8300 you mentioned and the one in Ayr has only done 7K miles. I went to try out the Delta Automatic in Dundee, but was told it was sold an no longer on the premises... only to be phoned 2 days later to say that it hadnt sold and was I interested? as I had already wasted one day down in Dundee I'll get one from someone else...

Yes I know ... they've been traded in I guess... I did have a test drive of a Delta 1.6 Manual in Elgin a few weeks back. I thought it was really nice to drive, a bit more sporty than I expected... but then my daily driver is a Fiat Doblo so I'm not starting from a high base! I also test drove an Alfa Giulietta with the TCT gearbox... that was really impressive it was a 1.4 Petrol ... really easy to drive and very sporty... I'd be too tempted to speed in it I'm looking for a more laid back car now!

Hi I posted earlier this year. Now looking for a Delta Automatic. Just missed one in Dundee... so if any one knows of one for sale.. let me know! Cheers Stuart

If you go to the Alfa Romeo or Fiat Forums there is plenty info on Blue&Me issues. Suggest you make sure you have the most up to date version of firmware and its worth trying a firmware reset. You will find instructions on the Alfa Forum for doing this. There is also (or was) a special dongle for enabling Ipod with blue & me ... it might be worth trying that. There were a lot of issue with this system early in its development and yours sounds like one of them. Cheers Stuart

Generally not impressed with Arnold Clark dealers.. the Alfa Fiat dealer in Aberdeen was awful... maybe they have improved...

Hi Nello Yes I dont think any auto "limiteds" exist. I would never have considered an auto a few years ago, but after having an auto S Type Jag I thought it superb. I spend a lot of time crawling along in traffic in my commute to work. So it will make life much easier. I see the one in autotrader .. hoping to find one nearer Aberdeen to try first. I've had a few Lancias, A Delta, A Prisma, A Beta Saloon, a Y10 and best of all was my Montecarlo Spyder.

I think the limited and executive are same trim... I do fancy the 2.0 Diesel, but I'd rather have an automatic. I've stopped worrying about having fast cars as you cant really use the speed they are capable of at all. I think in Norway you have even lower speed limits on your roads! Still looking for a road test of an Auto Delta .. but seems no magazine has ever tested one. Mind you most of what car journalists write is nonsense ... so I will find one and try one for myself I think. I think the same auto box (Aisan) was used in the Alfa 159? Cheers Stuart

Hi I'm quite keen on the DELTA I've owned a few Lancias in the past and will be looking for a newer car soon. Has anyone got experience of the Automatic version? I spend a lot of time crawling along in traffic so I'd like an auto box. I've not managed to read any reviews of the auto-box. Is the Limited version available as an auto ? Regards Stuart.
