Abs, Traction Control And Fcw Warning Lights All On
Briscoe76 replied to Spinner2104's question in Chrysler 300c
Thanks for that mate. I was hoping by replacing the sensor this morning that the lights would go out by themselves, but they haven’t. I’m guessing it’s the ring that needs doing then. I’ll have a look on eBay now. The gear changing thing is rather frustrating isn’t it. Often I’ll start the car, pull away and it won’t change out of first. I have to stop, put it in neutral, then back to drive and it’s fine after that. It’s not great when you’ve just accelerated away from a roundabout lol. Thanks for the info on this. Just out of interest what year is yours? Mines a 2008 pre facelift model. I still have a normal ignition key, rather than the newer fob thing they issued with the later ones. -

Also where did you get the ring from, was it hard to fit? -
Abs, Traction Control And Fcw Warning Lights All On

Eight pint, I’ve had a similar thing happen to me. Just without the bang. I’ve replaced the sensor this morning and the lights haven’t gone out themselves, so do you thing the abs ring needs doing as well? -
Lol, no what happened was, I had my car parked facing another car, so I could see the headlights shining into it. I had my hand over the sensor, the wipers came on and dragged over my knuckles before I had a chance to move it lol.

Morning all. After reading lots of posts about the fact that "All" 300c's were fitted with automatic headlights, I did a bit of digging, followed a few instructions, and hey presto they were all right!. I've got a 2008 (Pre facelift) 3.0 CRD estate, and the car does not have (supposedly) the auto headlamp function fitted. To activate it is really simple. All you need to do is remove the headlight switch, just the bit that rotates. I did mine by putting some thick kitchen roll in the teeth of some pliers, so as not to damage the switch, and giving it a firm tug. It comes off with a bit of a jolt, as its glued on as well as clicking into place. Do this with the headlight switch in the off position. Once the switch is removed, grab hold of the spline that the switch fits over, and turn it anti clockwise. Youve then turned the automatic headlamps on. You arent able to turn the swich to this setting when the switch is in place, because of a little plastic nipple. You can see this to the lower right of the spline. Cut this off with a craft knife and replace the switch, and hey presto they work a treat. Its best to do it in the day light. Before cutting anything, and with the lights switch in the auto position, cover the light sensor ( top centre of your windscreen) with your hand, and after a few seconds the lights come on. Remove your hand and the lights go out. Make sure you have the auto wipers turned off as covering the sensor will activate those too!!

Many thanks Mike. I had a feeling it was the spring. I take it this spring carries all the connections for the steering wheel buttons?
-
Yep it does exactly the same thing. It’s always as the wheel passes through dead centre. Which is the position the wheel is generally in when you are cruising along the motorway. I’m wondering if it’s anything to do with the famous ‘clock spring’ behind the airbag.

Thanks djjas. Its funny most climate control systems ive had in cars, always have an ECON button, yet even when the button is pressed to not have the aircon on when using the autoclimate, it still comes on. Strange.

I have a similar problem on my 2008 Touring, they both flicker, and every so often the left one goes out, a few seconds later it comes back on again lol

Radio Turns Off For A Second, Then Back On Again.

Eightpint, how did you get on? -
Morning all. My wife has a 2009 Sebring 2 litre diesel, and every since we have had it, the cruise control dosen't work properly. I've tried spraying the switch internals with WD40 etc, and that hasn't cured anything. On the odd occasion it comes on, but moments later it shuts off again. I discovered this morning that it seems to be when the steering wheel passes through the "wheels straight" position it cuts out. Heres a video https://youtu.be/yiKosc4syyA Can anyone shed any light at all? Many thanks in advance Matt.

Hi, did you get this problem sorted at all? If you didnt, then its an easy fix. Open the bonnet and, and find the washer bottle. Next to that, bolted to the drivers side wing, you will find a black box. Unplug the box, and hey presto, the fault will vanish. It will also cure a few other faults, such as indicators that miss a click, rear wipers wiping on their own, reversing sensors firing up when your driving forward. The box is the HID translator module. All it does is let the ECU know when a headlight bulbs blows. If you can live without that function then you can cure all the rest!! The HID module develops a fault, and effects lots of other things down the line. -
Well said that man lol. Thanks for that info though, I was wondering.

Afternoon all. I've just done a run home along a dual carriageway. I set the cruise control for 60 mph, then reset the average mpg. After 20 or so miles it's showing 48.3 miles per gallon. I presume this is American MPG? Which when converted to UK mpg would mean the car averaged about 57 to the gallon. Surely that's outstanding for a 3 litre diesel!!

Afternoon all. If like me you have an iPhone full of music, but are loathed to spoil the original look of your 300c by changing the radio. Then get yourselves one of these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201595864115 It's an FM transmitter that hooks up to your phone via Bluetooth. I've messed about with fm transmitters in the past and they've always been rubbish. This one is perfect stereo sound without any interference at all. And it's only a fiver!!!

If you ever have a problem with it not going into gear first thing in the morningm check for fluid leaks. Thats what happened to mine.

Whats not to love about them. I detest the 'Euroboxes' that we are being forced to drive around in these days. All as dull as ditch water, full of grey plastic and boredom lol. Ive had a Grand Voyager in the past, superb car, and i've just bought my first 300C diesel. You get so so much for your money, and despite what everyone on Top Gear always says, not all of us like small, sporty manual cars that drive like they are on rails. Some of us want to arrive as fresh as we set off, in air conditioned comfort, while only feeling the odd bump or two along the way. In steps the yank tank :D :D Drive a big Chrysler and its smooth, quiet and effortless. Thats what i like about them

Hi there. I had exactly the same problem on my 2007 Voyager a few years ago. If it wasnt used for a couple of days, a fully charged battery was completely dead. So annoying. It turned out to be one of the radio speakers. The guy at Pulse car audio said it was a common fault. He changed the front speakers for some Kenwood ones, and the problem went away!

I know this is probably well out of date by now, but I owned a 2007 Grand Voyager 2.8 CRD Auto a few years back, and it was a fantastic car. It was the 7 seater version with Stow and Go seats. Very very clever system. Even with all the seats up (thats the second row which were two individual seats, and the rear bench for thrww people) the boot was massive. We managed to get 4 full size suitcases in there when we went away. Put the seats all down, and you have a van. It had all the usual toys, DVD player, wireless headphones etc. Plus, because its a yank, it had a column change auto gearbox. It felt like Dirty Harry/Kojak every time I put it in Park and got out at Asda.....

Hello :-) I have the 2007 300c Estate and I looked into this a while back. The easy part is changing the silver faceplate that surrounds the radio and heater controls for the satnav version. It seems easy enough to replace. The hard parts are A) fitting the necessary GPS antenna and wiring, and having the new unit coded to the car. Unfortunately you cant just plug and play with these headunits

Afternoon all. Does anyone know which is the correct fuse for the TPMS system in a 2007 300c Estate CRD? Also is it in the front or rear fuse box? Many thanks

Afternoon all. I have a query regarding the climate control on my 2007 300C. When in automatic mode, im lead to believe that if you press the aircon button, the light flashes three times, and the system is then running in ECON mode, whereby it will still adjust the temp automatically, yet it wont use the A/C. Is the right? Thanks in advance

Hello all. Just a quick hello, and to say I picked up my first 300C Touring last week. What an amazing car they are. Its the 3 litre diesel with the Merc engine. Why would you ever buy anything else!! Cheers
