  1. Hi Mikey Adrian Flux have their reputation to go with them ... google ... They wanted nearly twice the premium compared to my AIM insurance!!! :-) Chris
  2. Swopping from my 58 Brava to my 12 Delta has increased my insurance price bt about 120 squid. Thinks that it a bit of a rip off. Am going to go through the bucket shops, but they rarely return any significant advantage over my present insureer. I am an Institute of Advanced motorist, and Cornhill is their poison. I only wish that thane would come out with a similar product that costs the same... extra for continential - OK, but increase after certain 1000's of miles but for others .. ugh Certain upgrades do deserve a policy upgrade - e.g. tow hitch, but surely a certain number of days can be negotiated for the price. ie tow to site / then un-encumbered - tow home = 2 days in UK ( X days in Europe). Almost worth not ....< censored in writing> ..... Penguin Can we go back to the old worlds. Quills, Ink and Lloyds direct? Chris
  3. Hi Similar problem in my cortina (HALly 99N) - ended up with the AA... A fly or bee's leg in carb Check fuel system - filters - lines - sludge dragged through with an empty tank? Petrol of dubious quality? Fuel pump not working ..... so much with limited info. Penguin
  4. Hi The chilly nights are here. Already had ice on windscreen, and have condensation in (off side) normal bulb headlight. Apparently the headlights have a 'breather hole' that allows air in / out through under convection. This may be blocked. Any ideas of where to find it? OR remedies. The heating up of the unit with headlights / removal of hot lamp and replacement could be done, but if a seal has gone, this may not prove a useful route. Offside and nearside would be useful for future readers. Regards Penguin
  5. Hi There was a rumour from my dealer that a new car is coming in, in spring / summer 2015. Maybe worth ringing a dealer (Google - other search engines are available) Penguin
  6. Re: Postcodes ..... I have the original sat nav software (dated 2013 edition) in my sat nav SD card. As with you - I wanted to get the sat nav handbook (out of print and 20E no lead time) I started playing with the sat nav - knowing in advance my route. I started entering the place name - by putting in the initial letter of the post code. On the second letter - the numbers came up, entering the full post code was then enabled. It cross checked to the street and town, and one merely enters the number of the house, as if you are using the sat nav in 'normal entry mode'. viz: want 12 Possum drive, Streetley, England ST1 23A enter on first screen S, then T (numbers appear 123 (no spaces), then A screen goes to England Streetly Possum drive select house number 12 Have a fiddle - it does work.... Also: On one screen you have local attractions etc You can then select from a menu - the local attractions around Streely, Select Daffodil Cafe - and when selected, you can end up at the local cafe. You can also add multiple way points, just by entering them in sequence. Hope this helps. Have not been brave enough to update the Blue&Me software - Dealer wanted mega bucks, so, will leave that alone. Think that £149 for a sat nav update disc is a bit high too - especially as Garmin only charge for a life time update at &9£. Regards Penguin
  7. I had a Bravo (58 plate) that had done a mere 25k when the front off side spring broke Tried to claim off county council who 'maintain roads' to no avail. Chris
  8. Hi Has been fettled - not repainted. Handshake on repair if they go again. Hope that they last ......
  9. Don't want it to come back and bite my a@@@. Just want it solving now..... Apparently there is a new C out next year - but .... comes at top dollar price. Just like the luxury - especially on longer runs of decent seats and an enjoin' that purrs away, without too much stress. Have done the Ed rattle tins, this time, its up to the dealer to do the job. Chris
  10. To access 3 & 4 - you have to get into the door itself? There appear to be no screw heads / bolt heads accessible from the 'front of door' so to speak. As previously stated - just need it sorting, and hopefully a good job done. A shame as I like the car, and it certainly does not owe me much more, when doing 70mph down the motorway returning 55mpg+ It is a 1.6 diesel, running at just less than 2000 revs / min, and hardly murmurs. Far better fuel consumption than my ex-Brava. Chris
  11. Apparently not.... (info supplied to me via dealer) Door has to be stripped down / door cards / electrics .... Vanity panel removed ... moved across town to painters ... prepared ... painted ... et al .... returned ... refitted. Have been advised that it will be at least 4 days if not 5. Totally p***** off with it. Has anyone got a contact name at Chrysler UK for me to moan to? Chris
  12. ANGELS & DEMONS In Ron Howard's thrilling follow-up to The Da Vinci Code, expert symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) follows ancient clues on a heart-racing hunt through Rome to find the four Cardinals kidnapped by the deadly secret society, the Illuminati. With the Cardinals' lives on the line, and the Camerlengo (Ewan McGregor) desperate for help, Langdon embarks on a nonstop, action-packed race through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, and the most secretive vault on Earth! The Vatican Police use a Lancia badged Delta in several car chases.... Chris
  13. Hi Rossocorsa I suggested powder coating to my dealer.... Thinks that repainting them would be better (cheaper( for the dealership. The strip down / repaint / reassemble of doors will take the best part of a week..... The delights of a loan car again, with horrible seats, a petrol engine thats drinks fuel, and the embarrassment of same, leaves me somewhat disheartened
  14. Hi Folks My replacement door 'vanity panels' replaced by my dealer in late September. The paint finish on two was 'see through' and a third was chipped. Already one panel , the chipped one, has decided to become rusty and is colouring the paint finish. My dealer has ordered in, at their expense, a new sides worth (3) of offside panels. The paint status leaves one somewhat to be amazed, as Chrysler original parts, supplied in their approved packaging .... All three panels devoid of paint, the central panel, has been dropped and paint cracked. All panels are being returned to Chrylser UK. I have uploaded iPhone photo's: Chipped paint - view just above and left of order number No paint - self evident A third photo shows no paint on the base of a part - but cannot for some reason trim out the dealership name / address I am * off with the quality of spare parts - no wonder that this thread has so many comments. Someone should really take a close look at the quality of these parts at Chrysler. The dealer has arranged with me, to have the fitted parts removed / stripped / repainted at his expense. I will not buy another Chrysler again ...... Penguin 2007
  15. Hi Have just got car back from warrantee work on the door panels. On close inspection, two of the panels are devoid of 'enamel / paint' on the sharp edges. The just have not got any surface colour on at all - shiny steel shining through. It does not show up on a iPhone photograph - else I would have put one on. Cannot really touch it up, as it is in a visible position - and will attract attention etc Slap and dash - from a main dealer ....... Have moaned - don't know if it will get anywhere. Panels involved drivers door, passenger offside front panel. As stated before - make sure that all work can be done by the selling garage under a warrantee claim. I have not had the car for 7 days .... to and fro from my selling garage, to main dealer for the warrantee work back to my garage, tinkerings and back to me. Slowly taking the car into the direction required BUT still not done well. Chris
  16. Car being repaired under warrantee Rust on all six panels A shame that I could not get autoglym polish under the panels. If these go rusty I will claim again - as the clock, according to various folks starts again from replacement. Dr Chrysler took my car on Tuesday and although present position is not known, it may get back to me next week Monday or Tuesday. Word of warning here for future purchasers (in general) check that any work that is required to be done warrantee or not, can be completed by the vendor in his garage. Chris
  17. Hi As of 1:10:2014 the DVLA will no longer be issuing the circular paper disc. If you have a car with a current tax disc that is valid, say up to end of May 2015, do you still have to display the disc? The Police will know that your car is insured via ANPR, they are not bothered in France - even at a road side random check, they just look at insurance / driver licence etc... Any ideas? Chris
  18. I had mine 'serviced' and its going to get checked, as it is not working. Chris
  19. They are going to be replaced under warrantee Thank goodness, all six panels. The 'selling garage' MD has stated that it is a common fault - and also happens on two year old Mazdas. Is it a return to the old 'rust worm' that FIAT had in the 1970s? When a Strada of a colleague simply fell to bits, with the dreaded rust worm? I will upload a photo asap. How would you go about protecting the panels? Another spray of protective lacquer? How could you twist the arm of an already uncooperative main dealer? to do the extra lacquer layer? .... I'm not into taking doors apart - but I strongly suspect, that they are going to do the same thing, inside the two years. If scratched underneath - you cannot see the damage, and they will just rust from the back. The main damage on my 'worst one' appears to have come over the top surface - so a mere nick or scratch from a screwdriver would have started the process off. Now and again 'good quality' plastic parts have their uses - perhaps here is one of the places. Chris
  20. When car is first start up - it displays the C logo. This is then replaced by the function that was last used - radio etc Chris
  21. A sort after ....? Source of a part Helpful nudge in the direction of a spare part I am in need of a rear blind clip that secures the cover in the Delta boot. Fiat / Chrysler are being very difficult They will only supply 50 clips at a cost of 500£ (plus vat?) to my local dealer. I only need one! Chris
  22. Hi Just cleaned off the dirt from my windows etc, on my tour of the Scottish Islands. I have rust worm at the back of the rear passenger door trim in quite a big way. Also, on the panels named above - minor discolouration is seen. I'm getting to feel that I have bought a lemon..... SO disappointed - another trip to a dealer that is not the flavour of my less than 3 month old purchase. I feel like handing it back ...... Gutted - never before have I had so much hassle and bitter feelings for a car. Chris On tour - Westray, Orkneys A place where the wind waves and sky all meet
  23. I've had to deal with a 'Chrysler' dealer as the Fiat dealer, of whom I purchased my car from, could not read the diagnostics computer 'do-dar' thingy. Considering Fiat own Chrysler, you would expect them to do the read.... The Fiat dealer has run me ragged - I really object to buying something that had not been fully checked and serviced correctly. How can you service a 'new car - aka 2012' without being able to reset the computer device? The Chrysler dealer has had me running round in hoops, two return journeys under warrantee of 25 miles a time. And not a jot of diesel to top up the tank. Plus the 3 to 4 hours of drive, wait and return time.... Maybe they are all tarred with a similar brush - sell the product, get it out of the way, and hope that the new owner / second hand owner forgot how to complain? Chris Still looking for an A35 van .....
  24. Complete unit replacement - a bit of a farce in the end ... Replaced under warrantee - if you can get one at that price - go for it. The cheapest I found, on a rummage on the net was for about 288 euro - from Italy - a real pain - only 2 weeks old to me, and it threw up the orange warning light. As far as I could see on the light unit, all the lights were ON -it was a faulty circuit board. (I somewhat wonder - I was challenged as to why I had 'marked' the unit - to see if it had been replaced). LEDs should last longer than the car - but the current surge when all kicks in on start up etc, will shorten life. Is your unit in the 3 year / 60K mile limit? If so bend an ear, alternatively, if its inside the 60K mile, it might be worthwhile pushing the point a bit? Regards from a VERY wet Orkney Islands Chris Morris A35 Van, Ford Cortina Mk3, Ford Cortina Mk4, Fiat Uno x 2, Fiat Punto, Fiat Tipo, Fiat Bravo x 2, Fiat Stilo, Fiat Bravo, and now ...
