  1. Fuse box diagram & schematics as requested in post 1. http://www.autogenius.info/lancia-ypsilon-mk2-from-2011-fuse-box-diagram/ Answer to question in post 2. You can buy cigar / cigarette lighter to USB adapters from most car petrol stations these days (at a price). Alternative look up at Maplins: http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?text=car+cigar+lighter+to+usbusb&x=0&y=0 Other suppliers are available, and Sainsbury's even sell my favourite fish! I would NOT leave the device plugged in permanently to the cigar lighter. Penguin
  2. My Delta sat nav is only upgradable via a £149 + vat dealer purchase - its on a SIM card. I am running the '12' software as it is the last version that is available! However a quick check here: http://www.gpsbites.com/chrysler-300-navigation-update States that you can simply buy the new dvd, remove old dvd, insert new dvd and away you go. Penguin
  3. The springs are identical to the ones taken off. coil height / width / thickness / paint code and numbers Maybe in its pre-life as a FIAT pool car, my car had a similar membership to the same society? The car handles the same - so, I am more than happy with the repair. If you place 'a set of aftermarket lowering springs' on to your car, you are legally altering it and therefore have to inform your insurers that a modification has been done on it. My man has replaced 'like for like', therefore I am sure that I am legal. (Apologies for the delay in getting back to you with my comments), I became 'locked out' having changed laptops and the previous saved password failed to work - but now, does.... Penguin
  4. I have become another member of the every increasing Pot Hole Road Club. What makes it worse is ... FIAT have at least a 12 month back order on 'Chrysler" / "Lancia" spares. I did try the French to talk a French Lancia dealer, but nil points as far as my French language (just enough to buy dinner / order a beer or two / etc) Similarly to a Belgium dealer - 12 months wait .. :-( BUT read on, my intentions are positive.... 1) If you are a 198A2 diesel engine driven car, you can locate springs in your friendly FIAT Brava spares department - merely quote your engine number and they can assist! They work out at £49 a side & the obligatory VAT. You may have to look up / cross reference petrol versions 2) In going down this long and tortuous route, I did an SOS car call to various UK spring makers. One did come to my aid, and offered to make these for me. I stated that I would give the firm a mention on here - so contact details are: http://designplushosting.co.uk/email/springcoil-logo.jpg 2 Woodbourn Hill Sheffield S9 3NE T : +44 (0) 114-273-1111 T : 0800-112-3188(Freephone) F : +44 (0) 114-273-0222 W : www.springcoil.co.uk I spoke to Ryan and Carl (Managing director). I am sure that they can help you out in the near future if required. My instructions were to send to them an undamaged spring - to which they would make me the nearest possible replacements. (Or all the bits). A British firm that needs to be remembered, probably when, in times to come spare parts are / maybe at premium prices. Ryan - thank you and hope all is well Carl - mention in dispatches - hope the contact via here is worthwhile Kind regards to the company Hope they are useful to someone - I don't know if I break Member rules - but they were of a pit prop to me over the last few days. My Man who can, stated the Bravo springs slotted in as if they were a family member. He also loved the build quality and drivability of the car - having done the road test after its heart (water pump / cam belt etc) was replaced in the big service. Penguin
  5. What about asking a local fabricator to make some? We have a local wrought iron fence / gate maker, that I know turns his hands to novel answers like yours. Including keeping in Penguins! Penguin
  6. If its just two seats that need recovering (rather than seat covers) troll the internet. My long ago Brava had a ripped drivers seat - lack of fabric between the stitching rows. I managed to get a new cover supplied, I had the pain of fitting it with instructions - talc / inside out and swearing helped) for less than the price of some awful plastic nylon covers made in TieWan. Penguin
  7. Mileage? Age - registration date? My 33k mile has just undergone a full water pump, cam and watts a face replacement. Ablate a little more expensive than doing it at home, I am not a mechanic wielding spanner man, - its a necessary 5 year / 48 000 mile event. The seals in water pump /pipes et al could have worn through - vibrations can cause micro tears in any material. Far cheaper than replacing the engine and the inconvenience of the day in the 'clinic'. Water pump goes = damaged engine Cam failure = damaged catastrophic engine Errr lots of wonga! Penguin
  8. General query so that I am prepared, just in case..... and for others in archive format Car is in for MOT, with the LED driving lights, normal headlights and LED tail lights... etc What happens if 1 or 2 of the LED lights are not working in a single cluster. Easy to say with a normal headlight - 'out' is 'fail'. Thoughts please Penguin
  9. Try HAlfords or get in touch with Thule Penguin
  10. Josboogz I had the oil degradation come on after the 20 000 mile service came and went - it lasts for about 400 miles after the last service reset. Approximately 500 miles later.... the oil can flashes red. Gave me the 'willies' as I was on route to Gatwick at 70mph on the M4 at the time, with my Mum, freezing cold and stressed out. Ended up having go to main dealer and ask for them to reset the dash warner light. (The oil can flashes red). Lightened the wallet by £30, but peace of mind etc. I had to prove that the oil change had been done, by proof with the service stamps MOT date etc. Penguin
  11. Hi John You do not give a location, so a generalised response.... If you 'Goggle' ''hydraulic house manufacturer uk'', there are many in the uk. I'm sure that a few phone calls will enable such a pipe to be produced. Penguin
  12. Hi Amigoman You pays the cash you gets the product..... Gel batteries have their uses .... £+ Sealed cells - mid range Spiral ones are £+ See: .... http://www.multicell.co.uk/cyclon-batteries.html (Other suppliers are available). I had to replace my (2 year old from new) low maintenance battery with a new one when the service prior to the MoT, came up as it was failing. I replaced with similar, over rated LM cell, from a decent supplier. I suspect that they are all made by the same unit shifters in the middle east. Would recommend that you go over in the Ah rating - as diesels are a little heavier on the demand in start up process. Technology changes all the time, but make sure that you check with the manual for ratings etc. Hope this helps Penguin
  13. Hi Ross I got quite used to a 'noisy relay switch' that was activated when using the indicators. It is annoying to leave the indicators 'on' after they have been used for their purpose. I have tried swopping out the relay for the bravo one - but it still is quiet. Any older working relays lying around - they have changed suppliers according to my friend at the big C shop. Penguin
  14. In my Fiat Bravo, I had to resort to going to dealer and asking FIAT to supply code. Was this unit a factory fitted version? If so go via above Chrysler / Fiat UK dealer route. May cost you some cash? If an aftermarket part, you could go via the becker radio/sat nav supply chain The primary reason for the code is to stop tealeaves selling units on after removal. You may have to prove you are the legitimate owner user of the device. Penguin
  15. Cheaper option .... Use beam defleectors? Or if you are really not into spending loads of cash - do as I do... Blank off the beam with electrical insulation tape. Masking tape is not 100% waterproof. (Blanking areas are marked on some headlights - or have a look in a H store - and check mask patter. Then mask and shine headlights against garage door etc) Note - I only summer tour in France - so, the above is OK. The performance of lamps are OK for daytime driving, and at a pinch evening / dark - but for protracted use at night (non-motorway, I may probably opt for an expensive beam bender instead). Penguin
  16. Could be an air lock in the heater matrix? Look up in manuals - there will be a drain plug / air vent which having been released, will then need topping up and hey ho, it should work. Solved this one after delisting my Cortina Mk III on a trip back from a wild weekend ice climbing in North Wales. Penguin
  17. OK You have stated spring - so I assume that it is one of the round type, not the linear variety. For cost purposes I had to replace one, that had speed bumped out and snapped. It cost me £140 a side - you have to really change both as they may well be suffering from iron 'stress' worm. Do you really want the other to ping, trash your tyre .... the rest at 70 mph does not bear thinking about...... If you cannot beat them join them...... 1. A google search of the user manual could result in a dealership in northern France / Belgium... You could have a short weekend over there - taking your other half? If you can time it right there are many cheap bucket deals c/o DeeFsDeeSS ships (35 return last year) 2. Or shoot a bit higher - aim the spring at a UK 'Mike Brewer' type of spring manufacturer. You list as Wales .... http://www.jones-springs.co.uk, based in Brum, https://www.springmasters.comin Reddidtch - there are more If you prefer to press alt delete, you could ask one of our Italian friends, with the epa part number (try speaking to Fiat Italy via the UK help line) and do a deal? Mikeys response could be a start in the mean time, the only advisory is, as an ex-Physics teacher, the gross tare weight will be slightly different, and therefore the (young modulus) strength of the spring (maybe) could be slightly different. Heavier car = larger number. Would not want to trust a recycled part, especially as recycled parts, are by their nature in this position - critical components. Penguin If you do find a spring manufacturer that you use, and can recommend, please post on here in the 'Garages' spot?
  18. Had this issue on my 'Tipo?' or was it the Marea? Can't remember that far back..... If you mean the internal light that illuminates the etched light on the plastic stalk? There are internal wires that run up and down the steering column. One of these had suffered a stress fracture on / by a crimp connector. Could just be the applied use of an electrical conductivity meter required. Penguin
  19. Try: http://www.parts.loc8apart.co.uk/nav/auto-part/Chrysler/Grand-Voyager/Relays.php Alternatively, if you know the relay number 'Google* the part number'. *Other search engines are available Penguin
  20. I have had a 'rubble noise' from my engine area - turned out to be loose nuts on the manifold. Just a pain to tighten up Penguin
  21. Did you solve the exhaust problem? Part numbers stockist would be welcomed by all.... Penguin
  22. Semmysonic I believe that this may not be possible..... (legally) It is to prevent 'rip off' copies being made. There is a copy prevention system, simliar to those on CDs (much to the annoyance of music server owners, that will not allow you to copy onto other media. There maybe ripping software available to do the deeds, but I thinks its not legally possible A Google search 'copy dvd to usb flash drive' reveals several helpful hints.... , other search engines are available. :-) Penguin
  23. Hi You could try Westaway garage in Northampton - just down the drag from you in Leicester. I assume (?) that if you order the correct part - they may(?) courier it to you.... Penguin
  24. Hi Mikey Bought via a Fiat (box) car shifter in Northamptonshire. There is a Chrysler Jeep dealership in Northampton, and if computer codes have to be read, thats where they take it on a low loader. (My car it transpires is an ex-Fiat management car run out of Fiat city in the southland of the Oxfordshire area....) Luckily, the little black cable spoke clear italien to the English USA computer and ... well it got sorted. Penguin
  25. Well, the mpg quoted in official terms are not for real running on roads. Folks-wagen fell between the lines on this one. I run a 1.6 turbo diesel mpg in town is approximately the same. Running up / down motorway I can get 70+ mpg at a 70mph - but this is far above the quoted. Its time that a more realistic fuel economy run was done - but on the roads this cannot be controlled sufficiently.... cold / hot atmosphere temperature low / high air pressure humidity % of load to car (i.e. 14 stone driver in a mini compared with 14 stone driver in a land rover etc Hence the supposedly futile attempts at the rolling road - of which one group have fallen foul of. it would be far better to compare 100 miles of running / fuel purchased - even more so, over a full year. But the car sellers want a quick easy to upgrade figure. Who is to say that your particular engine was exactly the same that they put through the test? Engine mapping (Guy Martin recently Speed) can significantly alter the performance of an engine at the reduction of mpg. or vice versa. Penguin
