    Free Automatic Headlights!

Morning all. After reading lots of posts about the fact that "All" 300c's were fitted with automatic headlights, I did a bit of digging, followed a few instructions, and hey presto they were all right!. I've got a 2008 (Pre facelift) 3.0 CRD estate, and the car does not have (supposedly) the auto headlamp function fitted. To activate it is really simple. All you need to do is remove the headlight switch, just the bit that rotates. I did mine by putting some thick kitchen roll in the teeth of some pliers, so as not to damage the switch, and giving it a firm tug. It comes off with a bit of a jolt, as its glued on as well as clicking into place. Do this with the headlight switch in the off position. Once the switch is removed, grab hold of the spline that the switch fits over, and turn it anti clockwise. Youve then turned the automatic headlamps on. You arent able to turn the swich to this setting when the switch is in place, because of a little plastic nipple. You can see this to the lower right of the spline. Cut this off with a craft knife and replace the switch, and hey presto they work a treat. Its best to do it in the day light. Before cutting anything, and with the lights switch in the auto position, cover the light sensor ( top centre of your windscreen) with your hand, and after a few seconds the lights come on. Remove your hand and the lights go out. Make sure you have the auto wipers turned off as covering the sensor will activate those too!!
